leaving comments on blogs for backlinks

I want to start leaving comments on blogs for back links, but I don't want google to hurt me in the process. My question to you master seo'ers is, does the blog content have to be relevant to the content om my site? I could easly comment with value on a UFC blog, but my website content is about cooking..... does it matter?

 

ideally yes, if your site is relevant it is much better, but what I do is type my name in name and enter all the details as requested, then in the post I add some good content then end it with my name and the word webmaster and <a href= whateveryourdomain is dot com >anchor text < / a> and they get approved and you get a backlink

 

Personally, I would post only in relevant blogs because they are relevant to my niche. I believe you will understand my logic for doing this but sometimes I do blog commenting on blogs that are not relevant to mine because of my interest and will make sure to leave a VALUABLE comment..

If a person is amazed or interested with my comment in that blog and decides to click on my name which in turn brings to my site, will that be an advantage if he is coming from a relevant site?

I only ever really do this if the blog is relevant to my niche, more targetted traffic.

good neighbourhood,
dofollow,
low OBL,
same niche,
good anchors
site content,
are just a few of the things, but dofollow links are always welcome by SE , and the green bar at the bottom (for those with PR plugins *) will only elongate with good SEO work

 

Even if your blog is about cooking, you can get links from relevant blogs, as well as irrelevant blogs. Most bloggers are quite particular about links within the text box, and they will not approve links to unrelated websites. So the best bet is to leave link using the name/email/website function.

 

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to leave comments on blogs relateded to my niche, just to be safe. I really do need targeted traffic. I know it will payoff long term. Thanks again guys.

 

A backlink is a backlinks. If you comment in a relevant blog, you may actually get some targeted traffic too.

 

Relevancy do matters,certainly while moving to blog comments.
High PR, Do follow,Anchor link,minimum OBl should be kept to mind.

 

I agree with that. But of course, you might want to leave some comments on blogs related to your website niche.
