Unhappy I lost 2.000.000 pages indexed in 24 hrs Hello DP Members, I am totally confused. In 24 hrs I lost over 42.000 pages indexed in Google. (from 48.000 to 6.000) In 24 hrs I lost over 2.000.000 pages indexed in Yahoo. (from 3.000.000 to 1.000.000) Traffic obviously sunk. All I did is create 6 backlinks from websites and blogs where I found backlinks from my competitors (using Market Samurai for """reverse engineering""") The back links are from PR0 to PR6 with 4 different KW in "name" of comments and 5 different URLs What in the world did i do wrong? PR: 4 GoogleI: 6,900 GoogleL: 0 Cached: n/a YahooI: 1,020,000 YahooL: 18 YahooLD: 472,678 BingI: 52 Rank: 457408 yesterday i still had 12 links indexed in Google, today zero... I normally have 2.500 Unique Visitors/day now it dropped down to 45 as of 9.00AM????? Any ideas?
If you do nothing, you will probably get back up. Be cautious with adding multiple links at one time. I do one a day. I was bumped for 3 days for adding 10 links in a 24 hour period. I hope this helps. Tom Smith
There is no way that 6 links from blogs would cause Google to de-index 42,000 pages and Yahoo to de-index 2,000,000. It sounds like you attempted black hat 'tricks' such as cloaking or hijacking. For two major search engines to discover deceitful tactics within a couple of days of one another, you did a poor job of covering your tracks. Sorry if I'm not very sympathetic, but something this serious does not happen for no reason. I suggest that you undo what you really did and file a re-inclusion request. /*tom*/
Sillyme - oh wow I am so sorry this happened Please update us how this works out. Tom - are you saying we should only post 1 link at day back to our website? If so what happens when other websites post a link back to my website on their website?? I mean I can't control if other website owners want to post to my site... longcall - what is cloaking or hijacking ? I want to make sure I don't do them
Re-inclusion request? How you do that? I did not do any black hat anything. All i did is post jobs on Odesk to find SEO guy to work on my website. What i don't get, if we got penalized, why still have over a million pages indexed? Can someone with Blackhat attack wipe out someone's site off the SERP??
This happened to many others, I read on some forums that ppl got a few thousands of pages de-indexed, if your pages are not duplicates, I think they will be indexed again.
Longcall911, We all learn from our mistakes early on. I had to learn the hard way. I wanted to go to the top overnight and over did it. I've now learned to take good notes of all my changes and keep things natural. I was not the one that got cut the pages. I simply was bumped back 3 pages for 3 days. I did not take good notes at that time, so I ended up removing useful content. After three days, I was back to page one.
Truivia, I would just keep it as natural as possible. I think if Google sees 20 backlinks to you in one day, they may suspect black hat. You're right though, we can't control other sites that link back to us. Tom Smith
how you get 2.500 Unique Visitors/day ?? and what is your site url ? I am unhappy to know that you lost 42.000 pages indexed in 24h!!
Can you send us your site url for which you were penalised. We all here will go through it and check what has gone wrong and what exactly is the solution. Right now i cannot give you any fake assumptions as I dont have your site url to check. However I feel sorry for you and just hope that you get back on track soon as possible.
I lost a couple of thousand indexed pages this month.. went from 2200 to 108 overnight.. The site was PR4 and I am wondering what will happen next...
Quite a sad situation, but this does happen, search engines keep on updating themselves . They must have considered many of your indexed pages as repeated hence they took such an action. Many a times the content remains same but index value increases. Take for example Google indexed abcdefg.com?ref=abc and then it indexed abcdefg.com?ref=pqrs some day google will realize that both the indexed pages are one and the same and then take action, re-indexing of same pages is quite normal with search engines. Sometimes this happens with adjusted php session ids your back linking is not relevant to this. How much is your unique content ? How much of that content is worth indexing? You haven't told us about it.
If you are being truthful and did not use BH tactics, then the other possibility is that you or your last SEO guy incorrectly changed your robots.txt file. If you have this problem with one SE only, I'd say maybe it is temporary. But two SEs deindexing is a big problem. Go learn about robots.txt and see if it is disallowing some or all. /*tom*/
It might be your competitor that did 2k links with xrumxxr or scrapexoxx so thats why you got deindexed
