I'm afraid that the answer, as far as I know, is 'no'-- it also depends on what you mean by 'easily' editable. All of the quality scripts --joomla, phpfox etc..require solid php, mysql skills...though I have to admit that i haven't tried all of the scripts out there... in my experience, you can't get around the 'you get what you pay for' cliche.
try elgg, buddypress - there are free. You won't get the same result as with Dolphin if you plan to do it yourself though. My advice: get a script thats within ur budget and head over to elance.com to find someone to make the changes you want.
yasir, how is social engine? wondered if it was any good...there a bunch of people who ditched it for phpfox (just going by what is posted on the phpfox forum) once their site got big and SE apprently started to slow down.... i've always wondered how it was though --never tried it myself
I highly recommend socialengine, since it's highly customizable and server friendly. It works using smarty and has a lot of available plugins, Development of plugins or design is quite simple and possible. I myself being a socialengine developer have worked on a couple of social networking websites and made sites similar to facebook, myspace, orkut, linked in and much more.
ifreakz... why did you choose socialengine for dev? I am stuck on which to decide... though I do like the Geo-Positioning System that Dzoic uses for 3 site ideas that I have. That would almost be a must.
has anyone tried http://chameleon.startsocialnetwork.com ? what about big sites, does it suit for this?
