Go to my new Squidoo lens: http://www.squidoo.com/cartooning-services-cartoons-for-licensing and rate the lens....note at bottom, is a COMMENTS section. I've allowed all configurations "ON" in the settings section so after your RATE it, make sure to list your URL (if you want, make it an anchor text link) and you'll give your site an automatick backlink . . .Squidoo's page rank is #8!
Squidoo's homepage might have a PageRank of 8, but your lens doesn't. Oh, and links in comments are nofollow.
The site has a page rank of #8 although the purpose of creating yourself a lens is to popularize it on that high page ranked URL. Thus my request for at least rating the lens because it is new. The lens won't get popular if you don't promote it....like anything else (your own site for that matter), if you're not linking it, getting comments etc., then there is no uuse in getting onlne and getting something "out there". As for "comments" listing NO FOLLOW, prove it I'll believe it then.
First, look at the code. You will see there is nofollow tags on the links in the comments. Second, All I am saying is your post title is a little misleading.
Oh...OK - well, if any Squidoo lens owners want to still (at least) rate my lens, please do. Then post the link to your own Squidoo lens and I will do likewise. I believe if we help one another.....well, isn't that what DP is also for? Feedback appreciated....
Hi dinrock, I left a comment over at your lens. It's currently under moderation right now but I'm hoping you can check it out. Thanks.
Simple and straight. No-follow no use. Squidoo authority links are not known in comment but in the lens.
THANK YOU Kontakt! Yes, I'll check shortly....I'm also working on reciprocal links with other web sites I own. And so far as Squidoo's "authority links" are concerned....why then, do they promote it? I really don't understand it? Why even make a big issue from lens creation standpoint in the first place, if none of it is going to be worth it?
It's the link in the lens that count as they are do-follow. Have you ever seen anyone commenting on the squidoo lens with links? duh! everyone knows why..
So if the links count in the lens, the next question then, is how do you know the page rank of those links that appear in a lens?
you mean the page rank of the lens right? cause that's how you get to know the authority power. A link in a PR0 squidoo will not weigh more than the one in PR2. You can use seo tool bar to find the pr of the lens.
OK....gonna try and find some sort of tool to check but NOW, as all SEO (even Google)says PAGE RANK MEANS NOTHING
Hahahaha. First you're trying to lure people into rating your lens by suggesting they can get a free PR8 backlink, then it turns out it's a nofollow comment link on a PR0 page, then you say Pagerank means nothing. Not all SEOs say "Pagerank means nothing" - just the stupid ones. Certainly Google hasn't said this either.
SimpSEO: First & foremost, I was sincere when I began this thread> Some people focus on page rank while others do not. I was NOT aware Squidoo places NO FOLLOW and I basically began this thread thinking otherwise. I however still fell page rank has some sort of value....afterall, it's that "value" that's been such an overwhelming part of what SEO's been all about in recent years....has it not? As for Google not saying anything about pagerank, I'm very surprised. If you're into SEO (which I suspect by your name), you're missing things....i.e., I read and subscribe to all kinds of e-newsletters, blogs etc. and WebProNews is another of them I get to stay on top. NO....in NO WAY am I promoting this newsletter, nor do I want anyone commenting here that I am. I am simply posting this link to make you aware that Google does regard PR "non effective". Matt Cutts quoted http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2010/03/03/google-may-start-calling-pagerank-something-else Personally I know little regarding SEO aside from linking and tweaking meta tags and listing in directories and so forth....but as an SEO specialist I was a bit surprised you were not aware of this.
dinrock - that article you linked to does not demonstrate that Pagerank means nothing. All it's really saying is that many webmasters become too obsessed by the green line in the toolbar, which I agree with. I think anyone who says PR means nothing is missing something, not me. But anyway, if that's what you believe that's fine. BTW I'm not an SEO specialist although I now know enough to figure out which factors affect rankings
