Under 1 gb of ram? Wow, time to update hardware.... Or if you're using a 10 year old PC, you should use the 10 year old software to go with it. Maybe w7 is made to run on computers built within the last 5 years... Fact is w7 utilizes memory way better than XP. Just cause it uses more at once doesn't mean it's using it inefficiently.
I love Windows 7. If you've been using Vista and don't want to upgrade then you're out of your mind. It is infinitely better than Vista. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. Those of you with XP need to upgrade. Yes, Windows 7 uses more system resources. It's a modern operating system. Windows 3.1 uses less system resources than XP yet you use XP. Same difference. Windows 7 is superior. Even my Mac has been collecting dust since I switched up to Windows 7.
well windows 7 is just superb under 1 gb ram also its damn fast for me my oldest lappy got 1 gb ram and 40 gb hdd in that win7 is damn faster then xp and vista lol its damn slow in that same lappy I prefer Windows 7 i even left Mac Book coz Windows 7 is very good and better for me now
It could be argued the disadvantage is that its a Microsoft product But we are stuck with it and its the best windows yet.
Well, I don't think there is any disadvantage in Windows 7. All features are better than earlier OS's. - Mr.President -
Taking too much time from loading. but it is quite nice from xp. I likes it calculator functionality.
I never use Vista because I've heard so many negative things about the software but in Windows 7 I'm hearing lots of good feedback.
Well, windows 7 often require us to restart explorer.exe if you open many applications and right click to refresh desktop. It may be a disadvantage.
I think the problem varies and the disadvantage is based on every individual's situation. If you have an old computer with Win XP, and you upgrade it to Win 7; your computer will most likely have hardware comp-ability problems and you might blast Win 7 for your frustration with installing drivers. But sense everything went well with me, I say the disadvantage is getting used to it and start fresh.
I believe that's your own problem, either hardware or you have some malware infected. It's nothing to do with Windows 7. My Windows 7 runs 24/7 without even rebooting. I don't feel any slow or 'laggyness' at all.
uh.. it takes just over 5 seconds to boot up for me.. and I dont know why people say its a memory hog... I always have the following running at all time: photoshop, notepad++, 5+ tabs in chrome and then usually 2-3 additional programs and I have never had 2gb+ memory being used. (have 4gb ddr3)
I dont think it is actually a disadvantage in case of Windows 7, Windows 7 can be used to work in "XP mode" also. As such, there is no point in using XP anymore.
Same. Photoshop + Chrome and IE with >3 tabs each + MSN with Video Conference + AVG + 2D Game.. still hardly hit 2GB+ memory in task manager and still smooth. 4GB DDR2 Going to get my new computer soon and going for Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
You should reconsider your feelings, Win 7 has so many new features that makes it the most user friendly OS built by MS. Did you even get a chance to use Win 7?
People are usually saying that windows XP is better than 7 because they are either too ignorant or they have an old PC. For older PCs yes, windows XP is recommended but I don't see any excuse not to upgrade if you have new hardware.
