I have read that their is some issues about Windows7 and playing games like CS and using Steam ...I think their is still some problem in some gaming when using Windows . I am still using Vista at the moment but I am planning to try out Windows 7 but I am still holding coz I am into gaming as well so it might cause some problems .

I upgraded from Vista to Win 7. Not a problem. Changed from 32bit to 64 bit. My computer is a quad-core with 4G or ram. Everything is perfect and games running smooth too.

Luck of you, I am still struggling to learn to use Windows7, and I do not like office 2007 comes with it, I decided to go to office 2003, really easy to use.

I have been using Win 7 in my Laptop from 2 months without any problem, Installed it on my Desktop which has core i 750 with 2gigs RAM Runs smooth and faster, you would need a decent graphics card and at least 2 gigis of rams to enjoy Win7

I personally think that Linux Ubuntu would be the best. It runs fast and efficient, and it is great for development on computers. The other thing is that it is open source so you can modify your linux the way you want it. And it seems much better now that it has gotten a new look and still runs on the greatest terminal software ever!

    OK, here is the story.

I have a ThinkPad laptop with Windows7 home basic.

When the win7 OS was being installed, it created a administrator user called IBM, then one day my laptop freezed and I have to cut off the power supply, when I rebooted it, it crashed on me, showing a notorious blue screen, forced me to restore my OS.

Since then I set a password to IBM, and created another user called something like Obama ( I am his fan) with no code, of course it does not belong admin group, everytime when I try to install some program, it asks me to enter the password for IBM, and no problems.

Last night when I got home I tried to run my Java update program and it prompted a window asking for IBM password, while I DID input the CORRECT password and it said the password is wrong:mad:, so I tried to login as IBM with the same CORRECT password, still no luck. So finally I reset the password for IBM with my flash card (it provides this, right?), but when I enter the hint, all letters I input showed +++++, and when I type, all showed +++++++ ( resolved after rebooting). HOWEVER, it still says the password was wrong whenever I enter it.

I can still login as Obama, but I could do nothing now. So WTF with windows7??????????????:mad:

Are you sure where you entered the password is not some virus or trojan horse program designed to steal your passwords? Try to run Antivirus/spyware scan. That is the only thing I can think of when being described this situation,.

I think u should try restore the system entirely and not put any type of password

I might be the case of Antivirus / Internet Security if there are any installed already

Yeah, I am quite sure, when I loged in as Obama, it asks me to enter the password whenever I try to install some normal apps. When I boot up windows7, and try to log in as IBM, it says password wrong as well. I do not think some trojan can show me these.

I have installed some anti-virus programs with the firewall enabled. I also enabled auto-update and the day before yesterday, it installed some fix after I pressed shut down my laptop (it does not require admin previlege??), could this be the problem?

You might have been a victim of some sort of virus. I'm glad all is well now. I like Windows 7 and I haven't experienced any problems with it so far. :)

I would wipe the OS and start over. Or repair installation.

This is the safest way to solve your problem. Most likely a virus problem. What kind of antivirus do you have with you right now?

Get Kaspersky on your system and do a full scan.

I've heard Linux is more strong, just do not have any experience with it. Can I install it on a virtual machine?

But Windows 7 was MY IDEA, how can it be so bad? Ha ha ha.

I think with any Windows version, it takes time to work out all the bugs that everyone in the world will have. In one year, it should be more solid than ever. I plan on waiting until I get a new laptop that has Windows 7. Better yet, I will see if I can splurge on a Mac, or both a Windows 7 Machine and a Mac!

I'm using Windows 7 from last 5 months and never had a slowdown problem or any other problem... Works just perfect. You just have to get used to it..

Note: I am using it on 1GB RAM and 2.4 Processor..

I used Vista before and I really hate it! Since 2 months I have windows 7 and it's great - fast and simple and nearly as good as XP!
