Interesting. Based on my experience, I would say the opposite. It seems that with our sites it's been 70% links and 30% content. That's why GoogleBombs still manage to creep up every once in a while.

Google has gotten a lot better about filtering out certain links, but links still seem to rule over content, but both are very important.

The key with SEO is to get a balance between the two.
Good natural sites have excellent content - this can lead to natural links.
But to give your site some presence you can implement some link building. Also its important to ensure the content you write is unique and contains the key phrases you want to rank for.

Nope, content has VERY little to do with ranking.
You can have the best content in the world and a small amount of backlinks. You won't rank.
You can have really bad content and a large amount of backlinks. You'll rank high.

Here's the catch 22: If your content is awful then visitors will quickly leave your site. So, even if your ranking #1, you can't sell a product if everyone leaves.

It seems to me that you have quality content. So, now you need to invest some time and/or money and build some premium backlinks!

You are so obviously trying to market your service in your sig that it is'nt even funny. What is even less funny is the way you are misinforming with what you are saying at the same time as marketing your sig

How am I misinforming people? You must be extremely ignorant if you think what I said is wrong. How about you refute one of the things I said instead of blanketing it as false? I doubt you can, because what I said is true.

    Here's a basic example:
Site A has X content and 5 backlinks
Site B visits Site A and says, "hey, i'll just steal this content and re-write it".
Site B rewrites X content and makes Y content.
Site B has Y content and 250 backlinks.

Site B is almost always going to outrank Site A.

My overall point is that the quality of your content does not affect your rankings. It will, however, affect your sales (or lack there of). Links, Anchor Text, and content relevant to your Keywords is all you need to rank well in Google..

Your overall point is wrong though. I get page 1 rankings with content and no linking to others sites. I never do linking as if it happens then it happens naturally and that is fine.

You never do linking? HAHA. Dude, you are saying my overall point is wrong and then you say you don't build backlinks?

Sure, you can rank well for random keywords like "how to dance on a ceiling", but your never going to rank well in any competitive niche without building backlinks.

It seems to me that you need to re-evaluate your SEO instead of criticizing mine.

LOL That's what you think! I have the evidence of thousands of page 1 SERPS that tells me different.

Ok buddy, lets see that evidence.

In the meantime, the rest of us SEO'ers are going to get back to working on a fundamental part of SEO: linkbuilding.

And, in the meantime, I'll show some evidence as to how real SEOers rank.

I'm sure digitalpoint will agree with me that Acai Berry is a competitive niche:
    Google Search for Acai Berry
    #2 Rank for Acai Berry
    Lets look at his backlinks

Man! Those sure look natural! Looks like he didn't do any linkbuilding on his own! /sarcasm.

That dude did exactly what I said in my original post. He built about 5,000 backlinks to his website and he's now ranking #2 in an extremely competitive niche. He is making 5 figures a day as a result.

Keep writing content without building backlinks, it makes it easier for me to outrank you.

If you say so. Personally I regard SEO and link building as two seperate things and link building although it can be seen as a small part of SEO as one of the things that are associated with it the clue is in the full non acronym words of SEO especially the 3rd word optimisation (optimization US).

Take a read of the meaning > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization and you will find that 6 years ago (in 2004) the amount of weight link manipulation by buying or exchanging links was wholly diluted and has since then become only one small factor

I linked you a case study. You replied with nonsense and sent me a wikipedia link. Linkbuilding has not become only "one small factor" in SEO. It's still a fundamental aspect.

I agree that exchanging links is near useless because Google does not value reciprocal linking (there is no reason to).

However, there is no way Google can determine what links are "bought" and what links are "natural", so they are essentially the same.

If links are "only one small factor", then please explain to me how that website is ranking so high? You must know something I don't.

Google determine a link with no related content of the source as a bought link.

I'm almost 100% sure you just made that up, want to link me to any reputable website that confirms this?

Maybe you should take a look at my case study above, <10% of the guys links were related content and he's ranking #2 in a highly competitive niche.

    No Gas = No Travel
    No Car = No Travel

I think you can figure out the analogy.

But car can run with petrol and diesel..But car is essential...
So the keyword is the king!!!with respect to keywords build a user friendly Content...Keep in mind only on the conversion Style..Do variations and optimize which one is getting more conversions..
So compromize with design....!!!then the backlinks...Yes it matters for boosting the rank...So make quality backlinks...That wi8ll help you..
