Hey guys. Changing host within 2 days. I am currently with an Australian host but my main source of traffic is US. So i am moving to a US Host. Will this be a positive or negative thing for my site in google? My site isn't really targeted to one country. Thanks for your help!
I don't really see any difference in hosts. I've seen websites that are hosted off-shore and they rank the same as another website. It's definitely about how your working for your website, not who/where it's being hosted at. Yugo,
It might actually benefit you. If moving to the USA decreases your page loading times. Google seems to be working towards using page load times in their ranking this year.
Wow, thanks. Because I made my site for the sake of it. And went for $3.95 hosting. Now its getting popular and I need a vps. According to google, average time for my site to load is 24.7 seconds. So hopefully the vps will fasten up thing, and hopefully google will like that
yeah, site loading time matters much now not only to bots but also to your regular visitors, Upgrading to vps is a nice choice. Google won't penalise you for changing hosts. BTW, you should get a separate ip for your site if you want more value for your website.
If you have multiple sites that cross link to each other it is a good idea to have a new hosting company.
That is good, however when you move, although your DNS has updated, it may not be updated for everyone yet, it may still take 24 hours for everyone to be able to see it properly again. Just warning you.
I just think I could be that oppimistic like ya. I am also planning to move 5/6 of my sites to different hosts with different IPs. But not doing it due to fear of PR penalty (OK ...OK..OKK I know PR means nothing compared to SERPs) - but still...... that siking --chilll goes for atleast 2/3 weeks untill Google recognizes you and gives you back your rightful SERPs placement. Not taking the risk currently simply for the fact that much of my traffic (approx 73%) comes from organic SERPs. I might be worng - you know......... but still...........
Yeah i know, but i used www.whatsmydns.net and to my surprise, my domain got propagated within 45mins which is crazy
