Greetings DP. I figured I would step over here to the General Chat and see what's going on...perhaps make some friends as opposed to trying to buy, sell, and advise all the time. How y'all doin'? Call me crazy, but something is seriously going on in my house. A Little Background The house is 86 years old It was built with wood from another house that burned 3 souls have passed in the house as well as one in a tree outside It has been owned and lived in by one family for the duration I am unsure about any additional information regarding the history and burning of the first house or even how you build a house from burnt wood. I guess the interiors burned and maybe not the outside. The house is solid wood, and I wouldn't doubt if some of it was petrified. hehe The walls and ceilings are all tongue and groove. The house has passed from generation to generation in my girlfriend's family, and she is currently the 4th generation caretaker. *NOTE* I am simply relaying my experiences and what I have been told about the house. I don't really have anything to back it up as fact other than...I know what I saw/felt, and those who have lived in this house have no reason to lie. The First Incident I moved in in mid-December last year (2009). I had heard the stories, and a few warnings, about the invisible inhabitants of this place. I had even felt them at times myself when visiting my girlfriend. It wasn't an evil or cold feeling...just a feeling of not being alone and visions of the spirits I was feeling. I've never been a heavy believer in "ghosts" in this sort of form. I was raised religiously, so spirits were either good or evil, and most any spirit you could "feel" should be vanquished in the name of Christ. The feeling given by these spirits is so quiet, calm, and they enter this realm with a smooth grace that is anything but threatening...most of the time. That's what it was like at least until I moved in and began having more tangible experiences. One night, I was woke from a dead sleep. That doesn't happen to me very often as I am quite a heavy sleeper. I immediately got chills and prickles up and down my back. In my groggy state, I had a terrible case of the creeps. I opened my eyes. I was facing a wall and the door to the room was right at the foot of my bed on that wall. I laid still and listened. The stairs creaked and my pulse quickened. Suddenly, my cat, who is normally passed out beside me, jumped up from his spot near the foot of the bed and ran up behind my head on my pillow. Now I was more than a little freaked out, but I laid still and quiet. I closed my eyes, and a light passed in front of my right eye kind of like when the doctor checks the reaction of your pupils with his/her penlight. I opened my eyes...darkness. I closed them, it happened again. I opened them....darkness. I quietly fell back asleep. I'm not quite sure how other than I was still very sleepy in spite of being freaked out. I didn't get a completely benevolent vibe from whatever the presence was, so I wasn't scared, just...freaked out. I found out later that this incident happened on the anniversary of the death of a girl who apparently shared my room at some point. This is information that I cannot corroborate. The Bed Shaking I'm not trying to be reminiscent of The Exorcist here. I'm just sharing my experience. These are the most recent incidents that just happened last week. I was late to bed...it was around 2:30 am. I went upstairs and crawled in bed to read a little while before going to sleep. I'm laying there reading, and all of the sudden the bed shakes...the whole bed. I liken the sensation to when you have a large pet on the bed and they scratch and the whole bed shakes. That is basically what it felt like. Again, my cat jumped up from his usual spot and became instantly obsessed with the ceiling for about the next 20 minutes. He was back and forth on the floor across the middle of the room and up on the desk meowing and looking upward. He finally settled down and so did I. My girlfriend said maybe it was a loud vehicle driving by or the wind. After going to sleep that night, I had a horrible nightmare about something grabbing me by my hands. I woke to find that my hands were squished under my pillow and aching quite significantly. The next night, I went to bed around 12 am...quite a bit earlier. Again, I read by the light of my lamp, minding my own business. The bed shakes...the whole bed just like the previous night. This time, the cat raises up from his nap and looks around, but then he lays right back down. I go back to reading...end of story. I did; however, pay attention to the fact that it was completely quiet outside...no vehicles, no wind. I've ruled out basic explanations like the furnace kicking on or the cats. I think in both cases, the heat was already running and both cats were asleep on the bed with me. I'm not really sure what's going on with the bed...but uh...it's weird. What do y'all think? Do you have experiences of your own or advice about mine?
No experiences for me personally BUT i'm really into the paranormal.. Have you seen the series "A Haunting" ? It comes on the discovery channel.. You definately need to check it out..My ex wife use to see balls of light in the middle of the night.. And one time after praying with her mother in our house, a cross appeared on the corner of her bathroom mirror and it stayed there for about 3 days or so..She said she tried to scrub it off but it wouldn't come off.. After it disappeared, then she tells me about the cross..I never paid attention to it..I asked her why she didn't tell me, she said she didn't want to freak me out..Well anyway, There's another show called "Paranormal state" which you can learn alot from watching it..It's about a paranormal group that goes around and help people whose in similar situations as yourself..So, keep us update bro.. BTW- I'm from NC too..
Bah...move shmove. I don't see the situation escalating to that as "Greater is He that is in me than he that is the world". Ah, yes...I am familiar with many of the Paranormal shows. I have to change the channel sometimes when they're TOO creepy. hehe Nice to see a fellow North Carolinian. BTW, I'm a sis, not a bro. Thanks for the replies...even the silly ones. "Who ya gonna call!?!"
Ghosts won't leave him Take your camera and record everything as the couple did in the movie "Paranormal Activities" - Mr.President -
OMG! Ya had to bring that up. My g-friend keeps picking on me about that movie since we rented it a couple months ago. CREEPY!
Dude. Fuuuuck that. I'm the biggest pansy when it comes to ghost. I would of pissed myself on the spot.
This is quite creepy, I never had such experience before You should move if you scared If you don't, you can do some experiment, try to record a video of your room.
Ah a haunted house... sweet.. do not be afraid of them.. they sense fear.. it attracts them. No ouija boards and exorcists please, it annoys them and makes them hostile. And considering the fact that you are relatively unharmed, maybe they are trying to tell you something. Sleep tight
you know, i would say "no proof without a video"... but do i really want to see a video in your bedroom?
Isnt it possible that the house itself is causing all those things? since its a very old house afterall and not stable...
hehe If I had a video camera and tripod, I would totally set it up! I only have a camera phone. I might take a few still pictures and throw them up. Maybe some orbs will show up...but then we all know those are just dust on the lens. I'm not trying to prove anything, I just wanted to relay my experiences. I wouldn't say the house is not stable. It's pretty solid...it's just old. I see what you're saying though....perhaps the house is creaking or settling and causing the phenomena and that may be all it is. I'm not sure what is causing it. I just know it's weird and makes for good conversation.
Wow, that's pretty scary. If I were you, I'd move out instantly haha no joke. That would just creep me out.. bed shaking... 2 days in a row? Good luck.
