If I currently host via Godaddy.com, and I plan to move my site;s hosting to a place in Amsterdam -- is this risky for my Google rankings?

I rank #1 for many terms in a niche..

    Please give me your feedback

Are you using a non-us hosting company or are the serviers located there? Or does both apply?

moving servers from a US hosting to a non-US hosting can affect your rankings in google.com, the degree is based on how geo targeted the keywords are.

I think it not problem, just make sure google can access your site even you change the hosting.

I actually just moved a few of my sites to a new hosting company and noticed a ranking difference about 2 days after. My site dropped from the 1 st page to the middle of the second page of Google. It took about 4 weeks to get back to where I was before I moved my sites.

This surely has a impact on SERP. Since, SERP is somewhat depends on the IP, changing country will affect SERP.

Most of my visitors are from the USA. Its currently hosted in the USA. I wanted to move it to the Netherlands.

It will affect rankings, eh? That is too bad. Maybe I wont move it

The move could effect for your site ranking according to Google.com for sure. Google does count geolocation site hosting as a ranking factor. If most of your visitors are us and you did not intend to have more visitors from netherland then I suggest you should not move. If Godaddy is not your please then there are many reliable hosting providers in us. Hostgator is another good option. Inmotion is good either.

Yep it definitely will effect your rankings. Geo location can be pretty important in google's algorithm.
