Hi All, I’m kind of confused here. I have a ecommerce website, say .Example.co.in (targeting for Indian visitors) and it has PR5 at the moment. I really wondered why I am not getting any good search ranking for my site. My site has a good number of quality back links and my competitor site has lesser back links, but still they are getting good search ranking and why not me, they also have a PR 5. Is it related to something difference for SEO for international website? Should I need to do anything specific to target Indian customers? OR my product page has more no. of back links than my home page. Is this a issue, Will it make any difference? Even Though I have PR 5 and good quality backlines why my site is not having a rank in google.co.in search? But my competitor’s site PR 5 and lesser back links than my site, but they rank on 1st page of Google search. Any SEO Experts can give a valuable info??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. PR has absolutely NOTHING at all to do with SERPS !! SERPS is the result of proper ON-page and off-page SEO high SERPS bring generic traffic=$ high PR brings ego-satisfaction and nothing else
The green Pagerank on you Toolbar is just the graphical representation of the earlier record of a site! So don't focus much on this instead focus on your targeted keyword ranking. Sometimes you may even find a social bookmarking or a forum link ranking in search engines which normally don't have PR at all! So search engines are displaying healthy results in your case with both having PR5! Also you said your site has good no.of quality and your competitor with less links: Have you evaluated the value of back-links pointing your competitor? On what basis do you judge the quality? I think you might consider the PR but the total no.of visitors reaching the links also counts to rank a website! Did you also measure the visitors count of your competitor links?
LoL. While it's not true that PR has nothing to do with rankings, it is true that you shouldn't focus on your own PR. Instead, focus on generating good, quality content, good on page optimization techniques, and have a strong link building campaign, and you'll improve in your SERPs over time.
Any of your page rank very high in certain keywords? Maybe you get too much links to homepage instead of each page.
Yeah well, I never see PR mentioned except in link sales or website flipping. It has nothing to do with traffic so why do people give a damn about it? lol I dunno, maybe because Google values links coming from high PR sites. So we can say that PR is kinda = reputation / site quality?
PR is how Google quantifies the quality and quantity of your backlinks. They calculate you PR, then use that calculated PR in a complex algorithm to assist them in determining your position in the index. It's an absolutly crucial part of the indexing process. That being said, pagerank isn't really something that Google wants you to focus on. They'd rather you focus on quality content than making crappy content more popular.

yaa this type of problem many site have bcz they have not quality backlinks, not quality content, not good on page and off pages optimization, not good keywords suggestion, Mata tags problem you can analysis your competitor analysis with this factor and get exact idea which problem you have and why your ranking not improved.
Pr is different, ranking is different, having high PR does not necessarily equate to higher placement in the search engine rankings. From what you are saying, it seems like the competttor website which you are talking about has higher domain age factor, thats why it is possible for it to get page 1 ranking.
PageRank has today very small influence on your position, you can stop worring about it try to get good quality links from sites related to your, it`s extremely important...don`t just get links any websites because this will not help you...
