hi everyone, I know building a web directory is an old fashion now, which everyone else seems to be criticising and under-estimating. Regardless of the criticism i decided to go on building my directory with an ambition to create unique features and creative ideas that one day can renew trust in this industry and make it a valuable resource even comparable to search engines. I started building my web directory 1 year ago. I didnt want to buy any ready made directory software because this simply limits my abilities to create a unique product. I have put so much effort into it; specially that i have a full time job and i am developing this directory as a hobby. I would like to think everyone thinks of my website, http://www.surformation.com, thank you for your feedback.
I think it could use some nice strong colors. I use large, wide screen monitors and the directory seems plain and very white (barren) on these monitors. Also, I was going to submit a few sites, but it requires that I create an account first. So, I didn't. I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but it is. There are dozens of new directories each day and I'll submit to just a few. I tend to choose the ones that are easiest and quickest, and look like they will be cared for by the owner. /*tom*/
I absolutely agree on the color scheme as pointed by longcall911. Also I see no point of enabling user registration while people are not only trying to save money but Time too I kinda like the name and I got a feeling that the guy cares about the site at this point...
Thank you longcall for your valuable comments and for taking the time to review the website. Yes you are right, people do tend to chose the easiest and quickest websites, and i noticed from google analytics that many people do exist once they figure out that registration is required. The reason that drove me to require registration is: 1- i have future expansion plans, new functions and new services. 2- I need to contact those who have submit their website for approval/disapproval notification. You are right also about the website being plain, i will improve this step by step. I really appreciate your feedback, thank you
hey i tried to register my self but i think there is a problem in that i cant register my self please look to it.
time and money are equivalent, you are absolutely right, people are trying to save both. I really appreciate you taking the time to check my website, thank you
I tested the website on mozilla firefox 3.0.13, it is working perfectly fine. Do you have javascript enabled?
nope . and i tried it again when you click submit. the page is not redirecting its like submit option is not activated
I have registered my self by using Google chrome , there is some issues with Mozilla. and who will review my website ? is it you only or some one else.
At this point, i am doing the reviews my self. Very nicely designed website, congratulations your website was approved. I believe you would have received the approval email by now. Thank you for your interest in surformation
please change your font color to "Black" very hard to see fonts(high font color contras) lots of space, but your directory is very useful for me, i am going to submit my site in your directory
Well since you've asked for constructive criticism... It looks like one of those 'default' domain names that are full with ads when accidentally you misspell a site
Thanks for your feedback, I totally agree that high contrast ratio between background and text should be implemented, I am working on improving the looks of the website.
constructive criticism is exactly what i want to hear and i really appreciate your honesty. I have to admit it was shocking reading your comment, i know i'm not a professional designer (not even a designer), and i know my website doesn't look that good but my website looks decent and has only one advertisement bar to the write. Could you please be more specific? what gave you the impression that you are on one of those "default" websites? Again, thank you a lot for taking the time to review my website, looking forward for more constructive criticism
