ok, there are some things I dont understand. you say that you worked 2 weeks on your site and got top rankings. how should this be possible? you say that you get about 400mil. results, is your keyword just one word or 2 or 3 or more words? if the latter is the case the number of results is always high and misleading. competition is not based on results only. you say that this keyword is getting 200k impressions per month, that is impressive but you claim not to get so much traffic being at #10. but you should! have you used google adwords tool? if yes then you should know that these numbers there are often lying! imo: if you are already at #3, be happy and focus on your next project.
Hey Blue, Just a thought.... have you listed your business on Google maps ? That might just be the slight edge you need. Just a thought. Good Luck...
The domain was with parkingrevolution for a while just sitting. When I saw that it was actually raising in ranks I decided to do something with it. The keyword returns over 40 million search results, of course most of the search results aren't targeted for the keyword. But it gives you an idea of how popular the phrase is because its come up a lot. I used the Google Adwords tool to determine the number of searches. It maybe off. Who knows. But I am going for #1. I was thinking to do that. My domain is GEO targeted so I would have to open a PO or something in the city. Not sure if I want to do that. Next stop is a press release on Monday.
Interesting. I think it depends on the niche/keyword to be honest. Although if the site at number one has done its job properly and provided the answer to the searchers problem, it should be job done.
Congratulations, first of all. Well, to tell you frankly, domain and content isn't enough for get a steady rank. Look at the other SEO objects link backlinks and Onpage SEO. You might experience a fluctuation in SERP for a few more days as the rank is new.
That could be true. I have a site I am ranking near the bottom of the 1st page and I have made many sales there.
I find that concept really interesting, I wonder if any one has done any studies into where most people buy from. I see the thinking behind it people will visit more than 1 site before making a purchase but I also see that you get much less traffic at no 2 or 3 - i'd love to hear other peoples thoughts on this. I've always been looking for no1!
#2 or #3 would probably be ok for people selling products. Tnbturbo makes an interesting point. However, sites that are not selling a product but providing information, #1 is where you want to be.
Congratulations on your success so far, however Google likes to mix things up now and then, just keep building those backlinks and optimizing your content.
Nice observation although I can't compare. The farthest I could go in my niche was #2. BTW, blueboxer Congrats on your achievement. Now concentrate on making some decent money.
