Hello Guys, many are telling that the link structure of a website is really important in terms of search engine optimization. But they don't tell what exactly is this or why? Can anybody discuss this? I mean how a better link structure can help for optimizing the pages for search engines? Any ideas?
Link Structure means like you have 50 keywords and its very high competitor keyword so make separate pages keywords wise like www.xyz.com is your domain and your keyword is seo services so make URL www.xyz.com/seo-services.html, keyword is web design services so make URL www.xyz.com/web-design-services.html so make link Structure this type also make good inter linking like in home page body put keyword SEO Services and make anchor Tag www.xyz.com/seo-services.html
I don't really know whether I was asking for the same help. I was thinking about the links inside a website. And how the structuring or interlinking can help seo.
Interlinking your internal pages with appropriate keywords as anchored and dofollow allows google to pass page rank juice and ranking to all your interlinked pages. Having good URL name (important keywords included in the URL) is also another important factor in SEO that may be one out of over 200 factors involved in search ranking.
Friend, that'd be great if you could share a few other factors involved in search ranking in which the 200s of, you were talking about. Especially I would like to hear your favorites.. Thanks.
Website link structure is alway important for any website. If website's page name have some keyword in url then it make your website additional benefits. you can make your page name seo-services-india.html then this will give you good scope to promote seo services india keywords. all page should not be more than 1 or 2 click far.
Ha ha.. funny Friend I'm telling about link structure within a website. Not with the url. I mean, you might have seen html sitemaps right? Thanks.
Hey PrGuy, The Link Structure you're talking about is comprised of the internal links that create your overall sitemap. Having a sound link structure will help the search spiders determine PRIORITY of the indexed page, giving it a proper map and layout of the website. PRGuy, Links are a big part of SEO but far from the only factor. As stated above there are well over 200 factors in the Google algorithm and they cannot be listed... because Google keeps it private. I highly suggest reading some articles from the industry thought-leaders like David Mihm, Andrew Shotland or Matt McGee. David Mihm gives an approximation of the search engine ranking factors (both local and global) on his blog - an absolute must-read for anyone who want's to do some SEO. As I said, Link Structure is one of the many factors that are weighted when ranking your pages in the index. More importantly, focus on following Google's guidelines as a blackmark is SEO death. Learn more about keyword density and link diversity, secure a good domain name and learn about meta content like titles/descs/keywords. The SEO industry is changing very rapidly, and what used to be straight-forward 9 months ago is a new mountain to climb today. SEO is not a science, it's an art and requires creativity, flexibility and the ability to always adapt. Good Luck!
Thanks man.. I find a good reply now.. yeah many authors are telling to take much care on our internal link structure to make it easily accessible to the search engine crawlers. In case of yahoo it seems highly important. I'm not sure about this though. P!
You shouldn't really need to worry to much about the internal structure unless you've got a few thousand pages you need indexed regularly (directories/news/ect.). For the most part if you focus on creating a site that's easy to use and easy to navigate for USERS then spiders will follow suit. A rule of thumb for SEO is to always think of the user experience first, design and build your site around the human visitors, not spiders. Generally, the internal link structure will be fairly sound - and you can see this in a visual sitemap. The only time you really need to work on manipulating the structure is if there is a problem, or if you need to direct spiders (for large front-end sites like stated above.) Good luck PRGuy =D
Its very important factor in ranking.. How your menu links are organized, what type of links (text, javascript, image links etc) you provide plays an important role. Put the navigation as simple as possible use text in navigation links, avoid using javascript or flash in menu.
Rand Fishkin from Seomoz covers this in pretty good detail, but most of his advice is here in these replies. I think the big thing, for now, is making sure to keep everything simple to avoid making it hard to spider the site. I'd love to see a thread covering Bing indexing Silverlight content. The odds that that the left hand is talking to the right are pretty low.
