Youtube will stop supporting IE on March 13th. Stopped support essentially means that some future features on YouTube will be rolled out that won’t work in older browsers. It is obvious that Google want to increase its share in browser market.

Also Google has announced that Youtube will display a message for changing the browser.

1- the browser is 7 years old,
2- there are two newer successors which are IE 7 & IE8
3- IE6 is so problematic in Development.

I appreciated your comment but guys At first I just figured “Cool, we’ll get more people away from IE6.” But the real reason is that they want to promote Chrome: which still not getting much success.

Very clever Google. Evil. But Clever.

it's about time as IE6 has so so many bugs it's virtually impossible to create a good website working in IE6.
I don't think it's only because of Chrome but they want to simplify the website.

But even google can't afford screwing with new versions of IE as more than 50% of people use it and supposedly Chrome is really rubbish.

I personally think firefox is the best, IE is the second best and as a webmaster I have to make sure that my website works well there as well. The rest is just rubbish.

    Simple reasons
    1- Browser compatibility
    2- Chrome promotion
    3- IE6 uses extra bandwidth.
4- Youtube experience on that browser is not tht good...

    ^ This.

Plus it's full with unaddressed vulnerabilities, quite possibly the worst browser in existence.

Google actually announces a couple of months ago that they will be phasing out IE6 support this year for most of their Google Apps services. I'm glad they have decided to do it as IE6 is old and outdated. It halts progress because people have to design website for the lowest common denominator, which is IE6. Without IE6, people are free to use more advanced techniques. We stopped supporting IE6 last year. Now I wish we could drop IE7. Anybody in web design can tell you that IE6 is an absolute nightmare.
