Why would i submit articles to article directories if i can use the content for my website instead? I know i can get a backlink, but i'm practically loosing one page of my website? What do you think?
Article directories not only allow you to get a backlink, but many allow others to publish your article to their own site provided your link is left so a single article can produce more than just one backlink. With articles, you also get the benefit of having your backlink placed on a page with content that you custom tailor to your targeted keyword(s), producing a highly relevant backlink. You can also re-write the content on your site and use that as your article, keeping your workload down and making related articles for article sites easier to produce. Whenever you write a new article, post it to your site, then change some wording so you have a unique article for the article site.
You will also get human traffic from these article directories. Backlinks are also very very very important for your website, though you are loosing your website page you are getting double benefit.
Article syndication can be a great link building exercise and you can write articles specifically for this that may not be suitable for your website anyway
So, you are clashing between content on your site and submitting content to article directories. No harm if you have rich content on your own site and not submitting to article directory. As everybody said it is for backlink and traffic. BUT think this way - to have double benefit! - Put the content on your site and social bookmark it - here both the purposes served.
I have had luck with aritcle spinners too. Write one unique article put it in a spinner and get many versions ready for submission. Some programs also will submit your article to worthy publishers...
Well, obviously it would be best if everyone read YOUR article on YOUR site. But the fact is not everybody gets to your site. So, even if you have to "give up" some content to another site, it's still a win-win because they give traffic to your site in return. Win-win.
The fact is that as Get Inspired said, you will have to get people to get to your site for reading what you put on it. Article submissions are done for many reasons. The most important one is that it does offer you backlinks. If you use one article and spin that article you will get a big number of back links to your site. Think of it this way! You have 10 articles. You put 8 on your web site and you use the other 2 on article submissions. You gain both content and possibly hundreds of back links towards your site. It is a win win situation. I usually use this basic: I publish 8 articles on my site and then 2 I send for article submissions. Keep in mind that article submissions can also be bad if you submit too much. I think that 2 articles per week is more than enough in the beginning. Then you can go for more advanced link building and not submit anything to article directories anymore.
like if you have website and you promote that website in directory, bookmarking etc.. so same way we promote our article on Article directory

Article Marketing is something to do online advertising and branding of your website and on the other hand, adding more pages in business site is for making the site more strengthen in view of search engines. Both aspects are important and different so we should not compare that. We can have both onsite and offsite article section, it means we should place few articles on site to make the site healthly something like www.abc.com/articles/.....html and also should use article directories with unique content like www.ezinearticles.com/xyz.html Article marketing through various syndicators and feedburner helps a lot for my and my client business.
