I did an online twitter course once and it said the best way to get more followers is to follow others. this is because studies show that when you follow people, around 25% follow you back (either automatically or manually). then over time you unfollow those who don't follow you back. this worked for me, and i quickly built my followers to 2000, but i doubt about how valuable they are. basically most of them are only following me because i followed them. i think the better way to build good followers is just to post good interesting content, and over time people will begin to retweet you and follow you based on that. and they would be the best followers. but i would be interested in any other tips people may have to build genuine followers.
