Well maybe light greenish not personally sure which but i am sure there are some good color thinkers in dp who can help in this ... but do u feel the same too ??
Shawn one more possible suggestion can we have the settings link near the navbar menu where we see New Posts * Private Messages * FAQ/Rules * Calendar * Community etc most of us are used to it bieng somewhere in that position
I'm not sure to be honest. I always hate new layouts for sites I use simply because it's different. I haven't used it enough to have a definitive opinion yet. But like I said, if someone has a better color for anything, feel free to suggest it (just post the color code like #4F8F22)... I'll see how it looks.

Shawn one more issue if u could add to your TO-DO list http://forums.digitalpoint.com/usercp.php in the last post option it only shows the time and not the person who replied the last.. i dont know why vb team did this as the old one use to be better

Yes, #D7E9D5 for that background will be better. Maybe you can also change the .thread_controls class background to the same color and .posthead and .thread_info h4 background to #6F9777
