When I get backlinks to my site, or just my site in general, which is better? http://google.com/ (just an example lol) or http://www.google.com/ or http://www.google.com or http://google.com is there a difference?
There is no difference. You probably want to do a CNAME redirect so if somebody types in www. instead of http:// they will get auto redirected(most hosting companys do this automatically). Other than that, theirs no SEO difference.
Theres no SEO difference but its good to conform with the web standard and use: http://www.google.com/
Oh, ok. I thought their might be because when I check for backlinks on my site, I get a different amount for http://www. and just plain http://
Have you selected your preferred URL? You can select any http://www.domainname or http://domainname then end suffix ends with .com or .com/ is still the same as long as the end suffix does not end with .com/xyz... Most search engine sees http://www.site and http://site as two different URL. You need to select your preferred type of domain Next do a permanent 301 redirect to let other search engine knows that your preferred URL.We have no control over how people giving us backlinks. Some may use www some may not. Without having preferred URL or permanent 301 redirect, you are losing the link back benefits there.
I don't think there would be any difference in its SEO value. All you need to do get a mix of anchor text pointing to that link.
