If we have a service that we have made a post about, and we are launching a new one with similar features, but a different name/design, should we update the current thread for the other service, or are we allowed to make a new thread? (This question is not in regards to BST, but in forums such as "All Other Tools" and "Reviews", though I am looking for an answer regarding BST also for future reference.) Thanks.
I would not want to hazzard a guess without seeing. It appears you already are duplicating threads with checkw.
Why would you launch a service that is the same as one you already have, just under a different name?
One is asking for a review of the functionality and design. The other is the announcement of it in the relevant section for announcing tools. Is that really a duplicate? I assumed because the threads were for different purposes, the fact that they were regarding the same website was irrelevant. For instance there is a whole forum for Google. In this specific scenario, we are considering making a dark skin for the service, since we know some people have physical problems with their eyes where the brightness actually hurts them. We happen to have a domain that suits the purpose, and we figure that rather than use cookies on the main site, we can offer an alternative for those who prefer dark skins. That's the main reason at the moment, though the two websites (if the second is launched) may expand in different directions based on the audiences. Just want to know the technicality of whether it can be announced as a tool/requested for a review in a separate thread, or if it should be updated within the same thread. Regarding the action to be taken in a similar situation for BST (this particular service is free for users) is just out of curiosity for the potentiality.
