I'm looking for a native English writer to write product descriptions. Extensive research and high quality writing required. You will have to write a sample product description to be considered. I will pay 2 cents per word.
I'm really curious about this job offer you've posted. After speaking with you via PM, you told me that 2 cents per word was to high of a price to pay, although it's what you've agreed to by your own post. Then, you go along to insult me as if I'm not really an American. I'm appalled by that accusation, and I really hope you get what's coming to you. I'm proud to be an American, and it's great asset to be able to have a team comprised of just American writers. Sadly, I think you're looking for someone that you can push over for a cheap price. All these people are constantly posting that they want American writers but when it comes to the money, they don't want to pay the price for the services we offer. I really don't understand the problem here, and I hope you don't go about insulting writers on a regular basis just to try to get them to lower their prices.
LOL, I love and hate that Americans think they are the only people in the world who are native English speakers. Please don't forget there are at least another 100 million people in other nations who are also native English speakers, and some of us can even spell.
The point isn't that Americans are supposed to be the only native English speakers. The point was that THEY contacted me, and then insulted me by saying that I wasn't American (and not a native English speaker).
webizpro - I agree completely. I do not write my articles myself because it takes a long time & I rather have someone give me a hand. He did not write that being an American is the only way to be a native speaker, so give the man a break. When I need bingo articles - I get articles from UK residents because their tone is slightly different than the American's, but perfect articles can almost exclusively be written by native speakers. One thing I can understand is that 80% of the "native speakers" here, are from India, Malaysia, Indonesia.. go figure. Sometimes I order articles from "Native speakers", and get an absolute GARBAGE written. So the guy was suspicious & that's fine; But don't offer $10 per article and then change your mind.
And, for the record, $0.02 per word is actually NOT too high a price to pay for content, especially since well written content takes time to put together and is what will make or break your business For a lot of us--especially those of us who are US or UK based, $0.02 is on the low end of the payment spectrum. Just sayin' Also: why would you even bother to reply to a PM if you thought the sender wasn't who you were looking for, let alone get abrasive and insult the person?
I totally agree. It really tires me as a writer to get people out there who want wonderfully written content and dont want to pay for it - I reject those kinds of jobs because unlike most 0.00c jobs, I put thought, research and creativity into my work and make sure that I write an article that will get the click. To the 2c guy, pay peanuts and have fun with the monkeys!
It wouldn't have made a difference about their suspicion had I initiated the contact. But, they contacted me based on a thread I posted here which indicated that my writers and I are American students. So, forgive me, but I do find it really hard to make sense of the action that followed. They offered me an assignment and asked for a confirmation on the price. Once I responded in agreement to the terms of the job, I was met with a rude and harsh insult. It just has me baffled, and has made me really consider if entering this market is really worth it. My outlook is that a client who gives you trouble during the initial negotiation stages will be more of a problem when it comes to actually working on an assignment. Some people are just hard to please, and so, the option of being able to freely walk away presents the advantage. Anyhow, to whomever may be awarded the job, I wish you all the best!
