    Hey

I use this forum mostly to buy links for my SEO clients. Due to the HUGE userbase of DP my inbox gets filled within 30 mins of posting a WTB thread, it would be nice if I had the ability to delete the thread when I have enough enquiries.

I have tried editing it to "PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MORE PM's" but as you can imagine, this makes no difference I still receive loads of messages, lol!

    Just my suggestion :)

Deleting threads would result in massive number of member disputes, and thread duplications.

Then may be double the number of moderators or just activate deleting ability only on that thread category ?

This is not a manpower issue.

The first thing someone does who is accused of scamming is to request thread deletion/closure to try to bury the discussion.

In my estimation transparancy is a must.

ok i understand that, but how about the ability to just remove posts in the BST section? or at least the ability to edit the post + title so people don't continue to send PM's.

even though they probably would anyway, lol

We don't have the power to make people read or understand. And the ones that do are very good at ignoring.

If people are sending you PMs after you've clearly indicated that you don't require any more business, then report the posts as spam, or place the offending members on your ignore list.

+1. Its got nothing to do with the amount of moderators, deleting threads can lead to disputes, deletion would remove it permanantly - and chances are scammers would use it to their advantage - so their left without a trace.

However, I agree, closing a thread is fine - but that's for the moderators to decide, whether a specific thread is to be closed - under certain situations/circumstances.

If you recieve PM's regarding a thread which has been resolved (via BST), simply report it, chances are; that member would get punished accordingly and quickly, via infraction or even a ban. (as I've read following another post; by Shawn)
