Is buying links a waste of time on here?

I read of someone buying many links on here in the Link Sales section, and its been over 6 months and no rankings have boosted or dropped

I saw the links of the sites and they all were high PR4+ sites, but very junky... (Broken English..... tons of ads... tons of links)

Does Google know that site is JUNK and doesnt give any value to the links?

Where do I find HIGH QUAILITY links to buy? From "REAL" trusted sites? Are there any great sites for this?

    thanks!

Yes, Google know everything. They have set authority to websites which are really of quality and aged. Google keeps every information with them and do know if some websites are selling their links or not.

Paid links from authority or quality websites are always helpful.

Getting links from any website which do not have something of quality is just waste of money. Better find websites which are providing some quality contents to their visitors other than just getting backlinks to feeds containing websites.

I try and use a rule of thumb when buying links:

    1) Must be relvant to my site
    2) Must not have more than 20 outbound links
    3) Must be relevant outbound links
    4) Site must have PR and genuine!

If it has these I buy, if not you are wasting your time and money.

I'm with geester1, but I would lower the outbound links even move, even under 10. If it a multi-way link exchange, I am willing to have it on link pages, but if I pay I at least want a chance of getting some traffic.

I have done some successful exchanges, but have not tried to buy any yet. When i did look at the buying links, i thought they were all way too high priced for the quality of the link.

Relevancy is also a key factor in buying/exchanging links i believe.

it depends on what links your buying. if your buying high PR sites and generates high traffic then for sure you will also benefit from it if you have a link on that site.

Well said! The problem with this is, it's hard to find. If you do, it's not cheap. So good luck!

to OP: most of the websites selling links on DP are PR3+ websites built on the domains bought from the domain section and with the purpose of selling links. The owners have no intent on promoting the websites as it's much cheaper to buy new PR3+ domain. Thus the quality of the websites is very poor.

The best way to get around this is to contanct the website owners directly. I did it myself and out of 10 e-mails I got 4 replies. Unfortunately, the links are much more expensive on those websites.

Sites on dp are extremely low quality. If u try to follow the criteria of domain age then u would never be able to find more than 1-2 links per month and that would be extremely costly. Even then sometimes u have to buy links to keep ur ranking stable for the time being.

It finally boils down to how much one is ready to pay! For cheap prices, you would get similar quality links... but if you are ready to pay the price, by putting in little more effort, one can surely find good quality links... here as well! :)

I still think that buying comment links are better than just links from spam sites. Otherwise buy articles and post to article directories for links.
