I know that something like this thread has probably been done before, but I didn't find one with the exact questions I wanted to ask. My question: What do you think of the common tactic of people just finding a blog post a putting a comment that has their link in it somewhere? My own opinion is that it's fine if you add at least something of value that is related to the blog post.(Something more than: "Hey that was a good post. You are one of the best bloggers I've ever read!")
I am of the opinion that if you are trying to build a legitimate business, it would be stupid to post irreverent comments to blogs. Your words represent your business, so choose them carefully. If you look like a spammer, nobody is going to take you seriously.
Yes anytime I leave a comment I try to make my comment as useful as I can. I even read the article most of the time... Spam would be "Go buy my product" or whatever when it is just not related to the topic at hand. This is just a waste of your time anyway because if this blogger has any sense he or she will not accept the spam comment.
I get 2 or 3 every day on my blog.....mostly about the "magic pills" and a lot about discount drugs.... Fortunately my blog is moderated and I can delete them.....It is a big pain in the a**
My favorites are the ones that pretend to have read it. Here are a few real-life examples: "Good to experience that there are blog owners that care about their blogs and not release all kind of unusable stuff but rather try to sustain it perfect and valuable for the sake of their subscribers. Thank you" "Considerably, the article is actually the best on this laudable topic. I harmonise with your conclusions and will eagerly look forward to your incoming updates. Saying thanks will not just be adequate, for the tremendous lucidity in your writing. I will instantly grab your rss feed to stay informed of any updates. Gratifying work and much success in your business efforts!" "I think this type of article is useful for many readers blog.Thank you sou much"
Well...sure you have seen the ads "wanted blog posters" Now do you have to wonder where you got those posts.... Just keep deleting....
LoL Stewie-Y. Too funny. I got one two days ago that said something similar-I cannot believe that people are so dumb that they actually think those kind of comments will become approved. What a complete waste of time.
blog commenting is spamming as the main reason people leave comments is not to contribute but to get a link back.
I hate those viagra spams and those stupid comments as well. I dont mind people making reference to some parts of the blog post, at least it shows that they read it.
Yeah, they only get through on the auto-approve blogs, and it really doesn't matter what they put on those anyway.
I agree with you. they we're just wasting time for the fact that their post will not be accepted. comments should always relevant to the post incase they wanted to have a back links. they should contribute atleast a good source of the relevant post.
I put dofollow and keywordluv plug-ins on all my blogs. I consider blog commenting a legitimate way of interacting with other bloggers. This means these comments should not be 'copy - paste comments and should add to the discussion.
I don't do a lot of blog commenting, but when I do I make sure it adds to the post in some way, not just say thank you or something useless.
All spam is spam, even if it is related to the subject it is usually a copy and paste from wikipedia.
I really don't mind comments that are used for building backlinks (Heck, my PR5 blog is DoFollow) but I don't approve comments that are obviously spam (eg. generic "Thanks for making this post" comments). If the comment does seem related to the blog post, normally I'll approve it.
My PR2 DOFOLLOW blog is also getting some spam comments. If I see keyword in names and URL in comment body, I just delete that comment without even reading the actual comment.
Spamming to a certain extent is fine. If you're going to use "buy viagra online" as your name, don't bother commenting. You'll just look like a needy spammer that's trying to get his sale and money. Kind of like a drug addict is looking for his fix.
