Do I really need h2 tags if my site is in .asp for seo purposes? If so what should mine be or if not why don't I need to worry about them?

well, H1 and H2 tags are known to help in SERP ranking some way. however, they are mostly used as a part of the site layout and for better/organized flow of site content. if your design or content dont require H2 tag, then dont force it as it is not mandatory that you must have it

Whether you need h2 tags and header tags is not associated with whether your site is in .asp or .php or .jspx. H2 tags are placed for emphasis so that when the search engine comes visiting your site, it realizes that the kwywords you have placed in the h2 tags are suppoed to be more important than the surrounding text and so it will rank accordingly , it may be able to infer that the topic of the page, the content of the page is about, the contents of the H2 tag. If you dont have H2 tag then you can have H1 or H3 tags.

    Not really... H1 is sufficient.

u can use h1 tags. you should also use h2, h3, h4 tags for subtitles in-case if your article is in hierarchical.

Not necessarily, you can use h2 tags if you are looking for your site content to look good. If you include h2 tags make sure that it is keyword rich.

I also think that h1 is sufficient. Don't overdo keyword density. 2-3% is fine

You can go with H1 tag because it is sufficient for the optimization of the web page of the website.

I've heard that anything beyond H2 is sorta irrelevant. H1 = main title on page and H2 = subtitle. As long as these titles contain keywords and the text body to follow supports these keywords, you can have one H1 and numerous H2s on a page.

i think h1 tag is enough . you don't want to spam your website with your keyword in all h tags

If you have more keywords that you're optimizing for, I should use H2 and maybe even H3, and after that, Bold or Italic the important words. That way Google recognizes the important words. Also place them in meta data and you're done

use it if you like .. but the reward is little.. try focus your effort on offsite seo like link building.. press release.. blog promotion.. as long as you get your keywords on page.. google will pick it up.. place very important keywords in your url.. for the rest .. organized in a way that is easy for your readers..

Just to clarify my previous post....... I agree with the views of other forum members....U can use all tags from h1-h6 according to your requirement, but make sure that the keyword density limit is not crossed.

You need H1/H2/H3 but only used to help people navigate, not for just SEO. :)

H1 tags are your first level topics under your title. H2 tags are sub topics that support whatever is in H1. As per seo, it is advisable to have single h1 and h2 tag in the web page
