You might try using only text ads so they blend better with your site. I think that since your site is mostly full of links, the image ads stand out too much like obvious commercial intent.

Also, where is your traffic coming from? Is it mostly organic search engine traffic?

Text link ads might work on your site. Put more near the content. Anyway, how much traffic you have and where is it coming from?

I agree with some of the replies. First you need to know whether your traffic is genuine or not. Bots mean no click unless if you want to park your domain which I think best option for you.

One more option, you can sell your ad space to other people rather than waiting people coming to your website to click on the ads.

directories are not good with adsense.. people are visiting your site to post articles, not to click your ads... if you want high conversion, create a niche site..

Perhaps you could begin to improve Web site google PR, and then provide the fee-based services
i think adsense is not good for directory,Monthly Ad、inline Ad、fee-based index, maybe you can try more different ways to make money, good luck!

As states, directories aren't really too hot for ad revenue. You can try blending the ads in a little better, but otherwise you're better off placing ads on a niche site that's more targeted and has more "real" visitors, so to speak.

I think you can improve your placement of the ad. You can take a look at articlealley, their placement of the ad is very good.
