I'm conducting a Google experiment with some websites I have. My goal is to determine if they have any power in pushing a website to the top 10. The links will come from about four different sites that have been listed in Google for years. They send no traffic, it is pure linking power. Here's my proposal... give me a site you want to push up in Google. give me the keyword text where you are ranked. I will then point hundreds of links to your website and let you know when everything is finished. If it has an effect, then I'll know the links have power. If not, oh well. The reason I'm doing this is to determine whether it's my domain names, hosting IPs, or starting position that is affecting my rankings. Anyone interested?
Yes and I have done that. They are all with GoDaddy. So, I would like to see if Google is penalizing my host or whether something else is the cause.
Some did great for quite awhile. But, as time went on, their rankings began dropping. I don't know if it was competition, a penalty, stale content, or what. My sites were spread around different hosts (BlueHost, HostGator, 1&1, DomainDirect, Web.com) and I consolidated them all with GoDaddy after a couple of years. Was that the cause? I don't know. But, it would be nice to eliminate this as a reason, if possible (without having to change hosts again).
You can atleast post 1 domain, n u wr saying you wanted to experiment to know y your domains wer penalised! Cn u eloborate, ill Pm then!
Are they sharing the same IP address? Are your contents for these sites being constantly updated and unique? Dont get others involved if you are not sure of something because you are jeopardizing other's site.
Some are, some aren't. Some have dynamic content (updated by script), some have static content (updated by hand). Some have generators and tools and some don't. All the content is unique. I don't want to beat anyone over the head with a wet noodle. It is simply an experiment.
How many IP address there are and how many websites? Because that will make a difference. Updated by script using javascript?
I dont really see any problem with that, the javascript thing is a question mark but it shouldn't be a major issue. How big was the dropped? How long did you stay in page 1
I think it is because of the single host syndrome - same class C IP address. It would be good to eliminate this factor though from the experiment.
Wait, so if you build links to your site from the same IP address you get penalized for it? Does this count only for your own domains or from others as well? For example, if I submit my articles to a bunch of other directories and web 2.0 sites all from my computer, will Google know that it's me building the links and discount all of them?
1 volunteer so far. Just looking for several more to have a wider range. Rankings are all over the place. Some have top 10 for major $$$ keywords, others can't seem to rank for junk. The biggest top 10 lasted about 6 months then disappeared from the index. But, I think that was due to stale content. Like I said, there are many different factors but would like to test some things to see what is happening with Google.
myspace backgrounds (number 1) free myspace backgrounds (number 1) free government student loan consolidation (number 5 - big $$$) credit card consolidations loans (number 7 - big $$$) You'd be surprised but... damaged wrecked cars (number 2) pays well sedu creamic irons (number 3) There were many, many, more... but I think that gives you an idea. These rankings are long gone, and of course, the ones still doing well I'll keep to myself.
He is, but results can go either way - Up or Down. I'll give it a shot since I just launched a new website which is getting almost 0 traffic, so if goes well I'll benefit from it and if it doesn't I haven't got much to lose anyway. Could you PM me the details of those four sites thanks.
