Where I register Domain - Does this Matter?

Discussion in 'Google' started by eyashwant, Feb 23, 2010.

I want to register a domain found 2 places.

    1) Godaddy
    2) An Indian Domain Company

Godaddy is good as it has features to transfer domain easily and easy to sell if needed later. But the price is more.

That Indian Company price is less, but it is Indian one.

I am going to register .com

But want to know if I google will rank me low if I register with Indian company?

    Can you please suggest me...

I don't think where you register it matters too much but some other factors are:

    1) The address on the whois

    2) What country the incoming links come from

    3) Address on website

    I am planning these :

    1) To add Domain Privacy if it is free
    2) Incoming links, I can manage
    3) I do not display address in website.

    Will this solve the issue?

It really depends on what and where you want to rank. If you want to rank in Google India no worries....... but if you want to rank in Google.com then worry.

Links are the most important and yes they do take in account the what country the links come from.

Where you register the domain doesnt matter - just check the fees for transfers/renewals. But it DOES matter what country you host your site in - if you want to attract a UK audience for example you should host in the UK

Last time I checked the privacy no details in whois at godaddy is an extra fee. I forget how much right off hand. Some companies offer it for free, but usually charge more than godaddy. If you do decide to use godaddy to register your domain name google search for some coupons. They always have some coupon available for 20-30% off. Not a lot of savings when you are talking $10 to begin with, but what the heck. Possibly you could get a deal on the privacy for a better deal with a coupon too.

I don't think that domain registrar is considered anywhere by Google or any other search engines. The thing which is matter most is hosting of a website or domain.

There is no such relation with domain registrar and ranking??

Yes, its sure that when you will try to find information of some good domain registrar or hosting companies, Google recommends some of the companies and GoDaddy is one of them...

So the final decision is that : Domain Registrar does not matter, only the host. Fine...

If Google recommends GoDaddy, if we buy domain there, is there any special SEO benifit?

    Hi!
I am sure now it is not going to matter, but now I need to see who provides free domain privacy and then decide things.

    Thanks for all your advice
    Thanks again...
