PR 5...horrible name...no ideas

Hi guys!
This is my first post on DP.
I have bought an expired domain name basoc2012.org
It have pr 5 and many important backlink. The name is horrible...no brandable.
I don't know how to use this domain!
I'm thinking about a mini-site seo related...with adsense and link selling.
What do you think? Any good idea?

I'm no expert but I would have thought you could get some reasonable $'s for the links.

 

I had to make some contenents...promote it...and then I'll sell links...
The problem is that I have no good ideas.

 

Try a conspiracy site, maybe with a touch of humor. May go with the following motto:

"Why basoc2012? Because teh government didn't allow us to name it basoc2011" (the misspeling is intentional).

Well... At least it's an idea.

what is the anchor text in the backlinks?

 

fortunatly basoc2012 or basoc2012.org are the ancor text

 

If there is a context associated with those backlinks then to maximize the value of them your site needs to be of a like nature.


If not, looking at the name and the .org, I am seeing possible site names:

ba society (match the ba)
ba soccer
basic operations center
b association
b associates

Of course it would be nice to give the 2012 some revelence also.

Hope I at least got you to thinking. Best thinking occurs under a tree with no computer.

One may even hit me later.

BA ( Bachelors of Arts) Soc ( Society ) 2012 .. make it some thing i am not sure
but write about college stuff on this juz my 2 cents

 

Make it a general web directory and sell home page links on monthly basis.

 

Maybe, just maybe, the name is worthless.

If you can't figure out what the site was previously used for (hint:archive.org), or what the previous links to the site were (just Google "link popularity check")... then it's hopeless.

Now, if it turns out that this (seemingly) hopeless domain has a history of high traffic and good links, you may be able to salvage something here, but it'll take some work.

I wouldn't count on it, and I would chalk it up to a learning experience.

It will be even more worthless after 2012, and that's one good reason to steer clear of year-based domain names as a long-term investment. Fortunately, you have a few years to figure out the best use for it.

However I do own two directories .

Yes it will be a great business as long as people will pay to buy links.

 

I like the directory idea or just make something up and tell a fake story about it and publish news updates pertaining to this fake event.

Unfortunatly pr has been dropped...in 9 datacenter is 5....in others 9 is 4...

 

Some New Age types think the world will end (in one way or another) in 2012. Maybe play on that.
