I need to know this for my site, does Google weigh META descriptions? I believe I heard a few months back that Matt Cutts announced that they do not even look at META Descriptions at all for the rankings, but I could be wrong. Just curious! :)

Remember....Google is not the only search engine....their posture on meta tags has changed......
For the few minutes it takes to add then...it is worth the effort...

I am not sure if google use meta description for ranking, but it does us meta description for snippet.

    I agree with
Yahoo and Bing use meta description for ranking, so it is better add it.

Google give the preference to the meta tag...when google not find the appropriate content according to the page title. then google robots pick the content of the meta tag.
