Should I Add a Shout Box?

    Hi All

I have a relatively new forum at: www.checkraise.com.au

Lately some of my members have been pushing for some sort of chat function to be added to the site. I'm in two minds about it as I think it underminds the point of having a forum a little bit.

Has anyone used a shout box on their home/index page before? Is it just asking for spam?

For me, a shout box rarely ads any substantial value to the site. If you want a community, use a forum. Other than that, a per-post commenting facility is enough.

I agree :) I wouldn't add a shout box if it was me.

That's what I was thinking too. I think it downgrades the site a bit and invites spam.

Thanks for your imput guys :)
