    LOL.
They might join in just to teach Hugo Chavez a lesson.

The UK might find itself in a bit of trouble this time as Argentina has backing from other countries this time, and with a lot of UK troops fighting the illegal war in Afghanistan and the UK government cutting the defence budget it will have to rely on the Navy.

Being British I am of course going to support my country. I am annoyed at this situation, not with Britain but with Argentina. Argentina disputed this back in 1982 and started the war. We (Britain) won the war and took back the Falkland islands. Now, when a country wins a war they get their way, in which case the Falklands were kept under British rule. Now because there's oil involved, Argentina has kicked up a fuss - to me it looks like the Argentinian Government are in need of money and see this as a good earner.

Now, I understand why Argentina is annoyed however they should just accept that the islands are British and will remain British. Argentina is acting like a baby: It wanted something and caused a tantrum (took the islands) and the mother (Britain) told it that it can't have it (thus taking the islands back). The baby then settled down but is again now crying over what it can't have.

You're talking as if a war is to take place. Argentina supposedly ruled out military action so I doubt there will be one. As far as I know there are 1000 British military personnel at the islands... in the last war 255 died so this is just under 4 times the amount that died.

The islands were inhabited until they were discovered by European explorers. A few countries have claimed that it's theirs, however in the 1800's Britain returned to the islands. The first people there were French I believe... but of course nobody can be 100% certain.

Just because the islands are next to Argentina does not mean they're rightfully theirs. That'd be like saying Ireland is rightfully British just because it's next to Britain.

In 1982 they tried and failed. That puts an end to the matter but Argentina are crying over it still... a military threat is not from Argentina, but rather Venezuela ... Hugo Chavez seems to be war hungry and has threatened England (yes, England alone not Britain as a whole).

Maybe once upon a time they did belong to Argentina... maybe... but times change and so do the owners of land/countries. The people on the Falklands are British and want to live under British rule.

That's up the the Argentinians. Chavez and Ortega may be pushing Argentina to war, but it's still up to the Argentinians to actually start the war.
