It seems that EU and U.S. has approved Microsoft & Yahoo deal which means that it's pretty much bye bye for Yahoo search. Personally I don't like this at all. More competition, better for me. And now that Yahoo will continue losing their audience it means that prices will go higher in Google & Bing CPC. Read more at http://www.seo-theory.com/2010/02/18/good-bye-yahoo-search
Search is continually changing. It's just evolution of business. As small business succeed larger business buy them out. If you look at Travel for instance you'll find there are only a small handful of players and hundreds of brands. No difference here... Google and Microsoft have the money.
That's kind'a sad since I like Yahoo. I'm N:1 on their results. Unfortunately BING ranking algo is too different from mine and I suck there hard. Venetsian
Yahoo isn't sad to go as a search. They made a deal with Microsoft so the two can have even the littlest chance to compete with Google. As far as things go, both MSN and Yahoo where already dead as search engines.
While their search engine might be taken over by Bing, they still have great features like Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Mail, and their news. Yugo,
Yahoo began suspending Geocities service, now losing position in search engine, next would be the grave? Now I see why we must say rest in peace
MS has wanted yahoo search for a long time. Now they have it. Problem still remains. Yahoo will still be the "platform," with showing bing results. What's the problem? Well, a flea and a fly get together as a flea and a fly. All they can do is just torment the big dog. The big dog is still the big dog until the flea and fly create a dog of a different color. What is sad is that Bing could not make a go of it alone. I don't mean sad in me being disappointed, but sad that a huge company like MS can't do shinola with a search engine. MS should toss in the towel and do something else. Google takes the internet to new heights while MS struggles. To the "new" MS/Yahoo search engine, google would say, been there, done that. Now what else can we takeover? Oh. I hear some buzz about some social site. Stephen C
