All links spread the page rank, but is it best to direct it into a main page? I tend to agree with geester1, mix it up a bit.
I beg to differ. The index page usually has the greater PR (though PR doesn't count as much anymore).
Fag, of course a link on Google's front page is better than a link on a spammed guestbook page, but that wasn't the question. The OP of course meant, if all other matters are equal. What a stupid comment. If someone asks you what you like most ('what is best'), a chocolate cake or a lemon cake, you probably wouldn't give a childish answer like: "that depends on the size". So why do it here?
It usually cost less to get inner page links, the bonus being I can usually get page content that better maches the niche I nee a link for,
sory want to ask how about home page is PR4 and inner page just PR1 that is good if we comment on inner page.. we will get backlink from PR4 or PR1 thanks
home page link good because your site will get more traffics or visibility than inner page, as my experience. I don't prefer pr but home page links are give me more traffics than other, i don't know why?
Since PR goes up and down, it hardly matter. The low PR page can improve as the owner works on more incoming links. I think the most important thing is the relevance to your content.
lets say you have a homepage and an inner page, both PR4, to get a link from. Get a link from homepage if you want more organic traffic and ready to pay more and get a link from inner page if you are on a budget and you care more about the backlink rather than organic traffic. Makes sense?
