Only $12 in 2 months :(

    Hi,

I've got couple of sites running AdSense but the revenue is quite small even after I tried to optimize the ad placement and blending. It is usually technical sites (see http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=1314930&postcount=15). I was lazy to place the so called "AdSense icons" next to the ads... But I see I'll gotta do that probably.

Any hints on better revenue?

I'm suffering from the same fate as you do.

I get a fair share of uniques but i've got bad CTR even though I've tried all forms of blending and placement.

I think the "AdSense images" do a lot in terms of CTR. Try them.

Try to get more traffic from search engines, not from forums, forum members usually dont click on ads. ;)

    Hm,

that is a problem to me. Although one of my forums is very good optimized for SEO, I only get like <10% of SE traffic to that site. I wonder why. On all my sites AwStats say i have around 90% of direct requests - does this really mean there is folks calling my site from their bookmarks??? It seems to me like awstats is counting bots too which it shouldnt :(.

Aren't forums notoriously bad for CTR? Try moving your ads around every few days so your visitors don't get "ad blind"

Try not to worry about it. Also if you only have one site, that's probably why. I have one main site and so far out of two months, I've come close to hitting the $20.00 mark. So don't sweat it.

Forums are quite bad for adsense...BUT, if your forum is niche specific..then you can add articles on your niche and have an article section to your site...the forum members who visit them will actually read and click on the ads.

    - try affiliate programs instead.

    - Where do your ads appear in the forums? Like the placement.

? that sounds like a lot of growth to me. $12 for 2 months = $6 month. By your last post it looks like you made $13 your last month which is over 100% growth. Now go for $26 next month.

Most of the time, google adsence is not the best solution for forum, blog or board. Maybe you can try something new, example CPM.

    Well,

I got a job because I could not live off 25 bucks from webmastering... I hope I will at least have some spare time to create unique content for my sites not to throw all the X month effort away...

just take your time. build a decent site first, worry less about revenue. content and keywords are the factors. then market your site somehow (which there are tons of free ways of doing it), increase traffic and before you know it, you'll start seeing an increase in revenue.
