As everyone else has stated, link building should be gradual and look natural, otherwise Google will penalise
By creating blogs and Social Media Optimization(SMO) you can get more and more back links to your site.
For quick link building, social networking is great...your content has to be good enough to justify relying on others to pass it along though. Having a retweet/Facebook share icon at the top of your page helps a lot.
@dcc1: "natural growth" is considered to be around 8-10. Although I doubt getting banned if you post some very cool stuff and you get 30k links in 2 days... this is a big debate among SEO specialists. Right, guys? Anyway, for easy (not fast) link building you can use these two scripts: Link1 and link2 They both cost some money (these are affiliated links), they both have some downsides (all scripts do have those) but it is the lazy way. It worked OK (not great) for me. Long story short: you can use these scripts for long tail / low competition keywords but I would not recommend them for "web design" or "jobs" ranking
You can comment on do follow blogs. Mine is do follow such as this list of do follow blogs I compiled: http://clickonportal.blogspot.com/2010/02/do-follow-blogs-directory-1-updated.html
faster way..i don't think that is a way. to do that, you would need to buy links.but that can be a dangerous.. slow link building would be better
