    Hi guys,

Press release is it really worth?

Feel free to share your experience if you had press release written.
Did it really help to increase back links, brand awareness, traffic etc...

If you do it by the book (not an overly salesy press release and things like that) then yes, it can help. If you're a beginner though, you'll probably screw up, there are better ways to spend your money while learning the ropes.

Yes. I put up a hot trend site as I call them (basically a monetized blogger blog which I write an article and have up & live in 30 minutes to respond to a trend..here, look... http://shaun-white-mctwist.blogspot.com/ ) about Shaun White at the Olympics.

The (free) press release was #1 pg#1 for a chosen LT keyword within an hour. OK it didnt last long as everyone is all over a hot trend and things change rapidly but it brought some traffic.

I've heard good things about PRWeb, not sure about its competitors though.

Sure, you get back link for submitting a press release, just ensure your written are unique and you will get back link/traffic.

Press releases are like a code that you have to crack full of unwritten rules. Break one and it will get rejected. I know, I used to be an editor rejecting them.

You need a story and angle - something to make it newsworthy - don;t worry this can apply to anything including afilliate products - you just need some inspiration.

You need to either write it yourself or get it written. The latter can cost $200-300 which is crazy as its easy if you can follow a formula.

Two distribute I'd suggest ONline there are two main options worth considering - prweb or webwire. But always remember offline too and send your press release to your local press and radiio.
