Gillware (Data Recovery company) failed to recovery my data. Is there still hope?

My host just recently sent the hard drive with my sites to a data recovery company called Gillware. Website is http://www.gillware.com - but they failed and gave the following reason:

Do you guys think there's still hope?


The hard drive is now being shipped to a more well known company, Drive Savers - http://www.drivesavers.com and I'm guessing that this is the last hope, because the more the drive gets tampered with, the more chance of permanent data loss.


So yeah.. I was just wondering what you think? If the file system is so severely damaged, do you think it STILL can be recovered?


Really anxious here. Would really appreciate any input.

Unfortunately, i would say you're in tough...

 

Not sure, my host said the drive was still new, and it just went bad prematurely.

 

I have not hear Gillware before but I have hear DriveSavers saves quite alot of disk before.

Did you have any backups?

 

Well, every server should have offsite (FTP, etc.) backups. A RAID system helps for those with deep pockets.

Every VPS/dedicated box I have automatically backs up all domain data to a remote FTP server, every other day.

 

Nope, no backups.

 

My company (a very large insurance company in madison) uses gillware for it's data recoveries, probably at least 50 times a year. I work in IT there and have actually made a couple dropoffs/pickups at their lab on the west side of madison. I can tell you those guys really know what they are doing. We typically run data recovery software on drives before shipping them over and they still get like 9 outta 10. From what I can tell they have at least 4 guys with computer science degrees from uwm working there. Id say if they failed you're likely in big trouble. I'd recommend not paying any upfront fees anywhere that's for sure. best of luck.

 

THis thread is almost 4 months old and you shouldn't expect the OP to still have hope, if the data isn't recovered.

 

Send it to us. I will take a look at that drive myself.
Visit our website CAPITAL Data Recovery and fill out the recovery form.
Did they open the drive? Did they provide you with any report? What exactly did they say about the problem? Why they couldn't recover it? Was it just a logical problem or mechanical? Let me know.

 

I agree. I know them all personally. Very smart people with IT degree.

I offered a second opinion, but I trust the diagnosis of Greg or whoever else worked on that drive.

 

I would agree with the earlier comment. DriveSavers data recovery is the company to go to if you're looking at the maximum chance of getting your data back. I've toured their facility and it's amazing. Not to mention their staff...many with 15 to 20+ years of experience. Be forewarned, they are not cheap.

 

Yes You can find very best solution from data recovery professionals, they are expert to solve this type of problems or you can download some hard disk recovery software's.
