Im currently the webmaster of site that sells tattoo products @ http://www.designstattoono1.com/ Right now im getting around 70 - 100 visitors per day but its still one month old and im trying to compete with the big companies like tattoojohnny.com (30,000 visitors per day) and tattoofinder.com (28,000 visitors per day). i know it doesnt sound realistic at the momment, but if i am going to do it what are the best ways to do it ??? i thought of working with a top seo company to get to the first page of google, then doing a ppc campaign with them, other than that are there any other methods big companies use ?? im not talking abt writing blogs or posting classified ads or any other methods that only brings 20 - 40 visitors but something big.. cheers
Using Facebook and Twitter can bring you a lot of visitors, it's free/cheap and fairly easy. Using Facebook PPC and targetting tattoo (keyword/page/groups) should bring you a lot of traffic fairly cheap.

Do some social bookmarking. Use a program like Onlywire or Social bot to submit each of your pages to all the social bookmarking sites. Post ads on craigslist, answer some quesions on yahoo answers. This is the fastest way to get traffic. If you want more permanent traffic you need to build lots of backlinks to your site using your keywords.
I absolute recommend you use twitter.For one of my autoblogs I'm getting 500 uniques per day! I love twitter.
Try creating a blog and then holding contests to viral visitors to your website. For example, get ten prospects and say "Whoever gets the most friends to comment on my blog' will get a free profile/ $100 worth of my products/(whatever).
I agree with this, social bookmarking is great for quick traffic, and backlinking is good for longer term traffic. So do both.
Article Marketing and PPC, probably by far the best 2 ways to get traffic to your website. Article Marketing is not immediate, but more for the long run and forever. PPC, well, could cost you a lot if you don't know what you're doing, but will get you instant traffic and exposure... You could always buy website traffic...
Facebook PPC will add up pretty quickly to $$. Really isn't that cheap any more. I agree with the viral marketing concept though - twitter is perfect for it.
