Comment spammers are getting more clever

I have noticed that spammers are becoming a bit more clever.
I have had several lately tell me that my RSS feed isn't working-after giving my blog a few general comments on the positive side.
Also had one today that said 'your alexa rating is impressive-keep up the good work' when my Alexa is NOT impressive as my blog is 4.5 weeks old!
Had a couple more make some very general comments and then tell me that the has subscribed-which is highly doubtful since their urls were NOTHING even close to being in the same niche.
It's a real pain sorting through the crap to find the true comments!

Maybe it is some of those paid "comment" types.......

I get 2 or 3 comments on my blog every day from a Russian poster....selling pills......at least it is moderated and we can delete....

Yes and if you want to check again, just copy the comment and google it - because it its a comment spam, many not-so-clever guys might have approved it and so we will get many search results with pages having that exact comment.

    Easily caught him, Right?

If you're using the Askimet plug-in you should be catching 98% of all spam comments without doing anything. The other 2% are a click from the trash.

those aren't clever actually. if it is then their comment must be related to the blog you post. delete them.

I'd have to agree there is nothing clever about them at all.

It's not hard to tell if a post is legitimate as it will reference the article.

I make users register to post comments on some of my sites and use anti spam plugins and it seems to do the trick.

Yeah, it's gotten to the point that I'll delete comments unless they are specifically dealing with the post. These general comments do slip past the spam filters quite often, so they are clever in that regard!

I use both Askimet and WordPress Anti-spam plugins. I still get a fair amount of spam comments. However, if the comment doesn't reference the post I just delete it.

LoL Woke up to find this comment on my blog: "I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts. I found http://www.pulseontech.com to be very interesting. I will be coming back to http://www.pulseontech.com for more information".

I should have titled this thread blog spammers are getting more and more idiotic! :)

This is a forever headache. After I made my blogs dofollow, and put up the word verification, I still have to delete away most of the meaningless comments. Today I delete one that asks me to look at his seo services. My blog post is not even about seo!

funniest part is when someone come to your blog and try to place his link in comments, so first he post that he likes your blog very much and wish u good luck in future with it and he recommends some of his links at the bottom of his whole post. :D
