hey guys! If you have been reading through the threads in Directories section of DP, you may have know that I am getting into building a directory of my own. I recently registered a great domain name, and hoping I can build a directory to its full potential of the name! I have been reading up on the "What turns you off in a web directory?" thread trying to get as much information as I can to build "customer-oriented directory" I was planning on using the phpLD script to complete this goal of mines. But I have one question to anyone who has used the phpLD script. 1. I was planning on getting the phpLD 2.0 to get used to the script and create a unique template for it. I notice that the majority thing that get people to submit to your directory is to having a nice, easy to follow design and not clutter with adsense ads! so I was wondering if I created a template for the 2.0 version and later decide to change to the latest phpLD version will my template still work with the newest version of phpLD? or would it be best off to buy the newest version and work from there? dencha, it will work with the latest version, but you will need to make some minor modifications like adjusting your path for the template switcher which can be made with ease if you use a search & replace. deleteing the admin massages in 3-4 files and for the extra functionality, you will need to add the additional fields that the latest version provides. Does anyone knows a site that has tutorials on how to make "skins" for phpLD. I have my idea drawn out on paper of how my directory should look like but have no clue on where to start. If anyone can help me out that would be great! Thanks in advance!
