I called her, and she told me that she has forwarded the messages we have sent to her to the "concerned team" and our wire requests will be processed "very soon"

This is not a scam. Checkout https://www.thepaypalblog.com/ They are doing wire transfers for large balances. Infact it was your lucky day that you got the call. You have just been put above the rest (who are still having withdrawal problems)

If it's a scam, it should be taken seriously. Where from the hell did that lady get your phone number and email ID? Is there any loophole in Paypal's database?

Someone please close this thread, it's history now :)

For one who are not aware of this issue, it was NOT fake. It was a PayPal initiative to collect the wire transfer details as they were having no idea how much the RBI issue was going to take. They thought to do "one-time" wire for the money which we "attempted to withdraw".

I talked over phone to both the places - India and US and had a long conversation about this on email to a PP representative and got many info on this. Later, when withdrawal started working as before with a little purpose code modification, they dropped the idea of Wire transfer.

    Thanks,
    Vijay
