Idea : Verified Members What for ? - Try to cut down on scams What comes with it? - Badge for profile or something - Respect How to become verified ? - Send $20 via paypal to site owner ( which is sent back later ) - Verify you are who you say you are .. drivers license or utility bill etc. People can give feedback for this idea or add on to it.
I think Shawn would have to do a lot of work accepting the money and giving it back, the answer would probably be NO
Yup only shawn is the admin. There is one more admin actually and MODS: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showgroups.php
I Know what Shawn Will say: And I agree, You also agreed to these rules when you signed up: Itrader is for that reason, If you want to deal with a person review there Itrader. Dpforum FAQ We do not have the time (or desire) to babysit members. If there is anyone that you don't get along with, you can choose to ignore them under your Buddy / Ignore Lists. Please don't ask to have a member banned simply because you don't get along with them. There are plenty of members that the administrators wouldn't consider friends, but it's not our job to silence members that we don't agree with.
Here's two tools I use when deciding whether to respect you or not: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=37987 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=37987
I don't know why such a system would bring "respect"? Verifying thousands of members for "free" is something that just isn't going to happen. Paypal would probably terminate and account before the first 50 refunds. Using photoshop I could create "proof" of who I am - under any name, with any photo I wanted. You could probably do something with a credit card, but the time involved in doing so isn't feasable. While my guess is that Shawn wouldn't want any part of it, I think you would have to charge a non-refundable fee to cover the site's owners time and expenses. While I'm sure such a system might be able to reduce fraud, we all know Ebay has a verification system and it hasn't eliminated fraud. The I-trader system is supposed to help with establishing some from of trust and I think it, combined with a posters history, is about as good as you are going to get.
I agree but imagine someone like me. New to DP. Trys to sell something but is not trusted because my iTrader is at 0 even though I have iTrader points on namepros and dnforum and many other forums. It was just an idea nobody has to agree and it doesnt have to happen. To you, YES I think the mods are tusted or they wouldnt have been accepted as mods.
That's why you need to have 25 posts. We can review your posts and see how you've behaved and decide whether to trust or not. I just did a seamless deal with a new member, 45 posts, no iTrader, no hitches, no glitches and now he's kindly giving me advice on travel to his city. There are other members with 1000+ posts who I would no more trade with than fly to the moon because of their immature, unprofessional behaviour.
do you get the idea from DN forum? IMHO it is just one way domaingod suck up more money. Lot of active member didn't get the verify thing cause it is useless...
As others have stated, it's not going to happen. Too much work, and kind of pointless to be honest. Someone pays $20 to become a "respected" member? $20 doesn't buy you respect here.
