Another New Search Engine...

Just found this new "user generated" search engine

    www.jatalla.com

From what I gather, users vote on the quality of the results to improve their relevancy.

Aha, you say, easy to spam, just vote multiple times for your own site and get top rankings for everything, but no, it seems that they've thought of this and you will need to register an account and have changes tracked by the community at large. A bit like Wikipedia then.

    1. Slow - which is understandable since they use PHP.

    2. Just few pages in index.

    Conclusion : not worth seeing.

I wanted to add my site, but you have to register so did that. Never got a confirmation email and it won't let me login now. No way to retrieve a password.

Looks like somebody's home project. No loss.

If the ranking really was user generated, porn would have ALOT of results.

Not worth it, users will never index the billions of links and content on the internet, it's a crazy ill faited idea.

I agree, nothing new here. I could tell this was amateur hour right away.
Why do so many of these "contender" search engines insist on unveling the curtain when there are so many obvious flaws that they just look like blundering novices. Rule one is don't unveil a site that is still under construction. People will never come back after one bad experience.
You would think that would go without saying..

    A. The name if horrific, I would need to study the name daily to remember how to spell it.

    B. It returned no results for any of my searches.

    C. I was unable to add my site or create an account.

    D. It should at least index on it's own, then allow the users to vote on whats indexed. But forcing the users to not only index but vote, is too much.

    =\

Addurobi, you must be a guy. Don't you realise it's not looks, it's performance that counts?

I don't want a good looking but spam filled search engine.
I won't mind a pig-ugly but damn accurate search engine.

Still waiting, and yes, it could be yours!

And I thought you'd said "my search engine" - it's just a new front end to someone else's technology.

What happens to your business if Google one day decide not to allow your api connection?
