ap09.com has provided a good source of information, but consider using meta descriptions and meta keywords, meta categories for flash and image based websites. also consider using ALT description for videos and images.

Meta keywords, descriptions, alt description will be used by search engine to classify your website and will be indexed in appropriate section.

 

i think with SEO method all type of website can be increased traffic and PR absolutlly ...
on page and off page activity ....it's effectived to increase traffic ..

in simple if you have not content so make hide content, Create good mata tags, make site URL static and Use keywords in URL so its more beneficial for you. other inter linking, RSS feed, Robots.txt, analytic code, Google webmaster code also yahoo and bing, ALT tags, make image name keywords wise so can get result in google images and also u can get traffic.

 

No one seems to have mentioned the title tag. This is one of the most important on page factors and if optimised well this will help immensly.

Hiding content or matching background and content color is against the google webmaster policies, hiding content or matching color is also considered blackhat, so dont even think about that. Google or other search engines may ban you forever.

Always use authentic and tested methods, read my post above and it will give you a good idea.

there are many factors to consider but since you asked generalized question I will respond with generalized answer.

Assuming you have "content"

Make these three links and put at bottom of your index page.

Sitemap (/sitemap.php or html)
Google Sitemap (/sitemap.xml.gz)
RSS Feeds (/rss-feed.php)

You could do nothing at this point and spiders will hit them on their own or you could search for a list of feed aggregators and other ping sites (search and you will find) to submit those urls.

 

I think you are missing the point, the guy is saying that he is got flash site with images and videos so there is no text links, I have explained in my above post that he will have to use alt img descriptions, meta tags, meta descriptions to let search engines know what this site is about and will be indexed eventually.

Yes, indeed be careful here. I know of a site that was banned because of a gradiant background that went from black to white. Text was white and placed only over the black part of the background- and totally visible- BUT the code revealed white background so the site was considered black hat.

I am building an all-flash site. If I put the same text in the part that gets rendered by the browser if flash is not installed, does that index as well as a regular site with that same text? Is that considered hidden text?

 

You may want to check out this link http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/06/improved-flash-indexing.html. It talks about how Google is attempting to index text from Flash files.

I still think you put your site at a disadvantage by creating it in flash but using flash for certain elements should be okay.
