Hi guys, i've been looking at pointing a load of traffic to Amazon, but I fear that my efforts wont be worth the reward. Have any of you had much success?
In my opinion it's hard to make a lot of money using amazon affiliate, it's not hard to get people on your site, but it's real hard to take them to the final step (of placing the order) the first time he lands on amazon.com and actually buy something.
It depends on you and what type of traffic you're sending to Amazon. If you are providing value to your users and your content is optimised, those traffic will be worth it. Not sure about your source of traffic though, but give it a try and see if it pays off. Good luck
the commissions of amazon is about 4-10%. you need make sales of 4000$-10.000$ to earn 160$ - 1000$ not easy to do.
The problem with Amazon is that those Europeans will likely buy from Amazon.uk. Those chinese will buy from Amazon.cn. Those who will buy from Amazon.com are quite limited. If you send the wrong traffic, they wont buy.
You definitely need a better niche and targeted traffic to earn something good enough from Amazon. Promote your site to the right people and surely they will buy something from your site. Also, you must have a good sales pitch so that your buyers will act or buy now or else the Amazon 24 hour cookie won't be that good.
The best way in my opinion is to have various nice sites that does not have that much competition in google. Then you just repeat them over and over until you make enough money to outsource the work. You wont make any profit for the first while because you will re invest and re invest,But after a year you could have about 500 niche sites that could make you 10000 till ??????? a month.
I see no problems with european or chinese traffic. If you have european traffic you can send it to Amazon.uk, if you have chinese traffic you can send it to chinese amazon, etc. Every webmaster can see what type of traffic he has by means of Google Analytics or other service that generated detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. Am I'm wrong?
Pointing traffic to Amazon won't work. You need to send traffic to targeted niches and also traffic has to send to different Amazon accounts based on country. To earn from you need targeted traffic.
very true! this is my problem as well! the 24h cookies doesnt help and plus if you have a banner or link to amazon.co.uk and the user is from USA and he/she clicks on the link it will go to amazon.co.uk and after that if the user decides to go to amazon.com and buys something you will not get commission! this really piss me off! does any1 know a free php script that allows to put amazon links based on ip address?
I made $200/m with cheap products to promote. average price $30/pcs and 6% commission rate. it's not bad
It's not about traffic... it's about people. And with the Short Cookie duration and the mass emailing Amazon does directly once they get a referral it's an uphill climb. Can you make money? Yes... but the return for effort for most people isn't very good so they would be better served "Marketing" products that pay commissions for longer cookie duration and implementing ways to capture their own email addresses. Everyone who wants a REAL answer to this... from a person who really does make money should read this post. $113K with Amazon in about 6 years http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/08/19/amazon-associates-tips/
Great link internetmarketingiq, very interesting read. I earn some from Amazon and whether you use them is whether you take advantage of their strengths: * Massive product range * Ability to do ultra-niches * Can monetise almost any area with Amazon * Big brand and widely trusted * Lots of integration options Watch out for the negatives... * 24 hour cookie * Low percentage (4% to 10%) * 3 month payment turnaround * Products can be very disorganised (be careful if doing automated type integrations) Nothing is ever an easy win. If you want to do Amazon, do it properly, take your time and be patient. You will be rewarded.
See, Earning money through PPC is quite easy than amazon because here some sale and money takes places.
This is why I'm thinking of using adsense as a way to generate revenue to my amazon blackberry store. and not worry too much about selling through amazon.?
I have very much thought of this a few times myself, and feel it realy would be a lot harder and more time consuming than adsense!
you can always try amazon, why not?! but you'd be better to go with adsense at the same time you can do amazon parallel with adsense as well
