I am a web designer and have a lot to learn about SEO We have a client in a U.S. city real estate market that ranks high for their main keyword sometimes... but most of the time its 2nd page Its so strange... for the main targeted keyword, its usually always #19...... however sometimes its ranked #5 We want to get it to stay on the first page Does anyone know why sometimes its #5... and 90% of the time its #19?
This isnt just happening to you, its happening to alot of people at the moment, myself included, I have a website bouncing from 5th - 20th back and forth, Googles got a whole lot going at the moment, I recommend you give it another fortnight before doing anything drastic, it should settle soon.
I think it depends on the place where search has been done and there is some browser thing also here..... I am using some monitoring app to check all visitors coming to my site..... but sometimes when I check that search string, I am nowhere and its not like only one visitor but even incase of many visitors...
This has been going on daily for a year straight I mean seeing it #5 lets me know the site can make it to the first page... sometimes it stays for 2-3 days Then, it goes right back down to #19
Now Google have a feature which call search settings. You can see this at the above right side. If you often visit your own site, your site will be ranked higher.
Check the competition. Always keep in mind that your competitors also work for their sites to achieve high ranking. If you failed to compete with them, your site will be outrank and drop.
Its happen some time because google is updating the ranking of pages so may be your ranking drop and increase at that time
This is most likely it. You can disable this feature by logging into Google, going to settings at google.com (upper right hand corner), then search settings. After you get there, look for query suggestions, and then webhistory. You'll want to delete and pause webhistory. This will stop Google from bumping up sites you often visit in your individal SERP. You need to be logged into your Google account for this to happen. Turning off query suggestions might also work, but I'm not 100% sure. If this isn't the case and you already knew about it, then I don't know what to tell you.
My website too is at page 5 for the keywords that I'm targeting for, but on some days it's at page 9 which is bad! I too am baffled by this.
Haha simple I think too is it possible sometimes Google doesnt pick up certain backlinks.... and drops the site to #19.... but other days it picks the major ones up and then right to #5?
This might be because the site is settling into the search engine, it takes a few months to attain a firm position, If its relatively new then this will be the reason. If not are you sure your not viewing the SERP position from different google search engines as they have different data centers and will give different results depending on your location, If you looking for a bit of seo help then check the site in my signature you might learn a few new things there!
This site is years old Also, I know if your Google account is logged in it will show your listing at the highest it ever made it, but im searching without being logged in
From my experience it also happens when you're not logged in. You need to clear your cookies / cache to stop it from happening in that case. That's why I said to log in so that it won't automatically do it. Give it a shot and see if it works. Basically, wait until you see it at #5, then clear your cache and cookies (or log in) and see what happens. If it drops to #19, then that's likely the problem.
mabey your competors are doing more backlinks or mabey not all of yours have been picked up just keep adding more links nothing anyone can do.
the links your site has is not that strong to support your site to stay you need to link to strong links and make sure link will stay permanently.
