I'll buy one if the data plan is free or if offered on a carrier other than AT&T!

It will take a lot of magic for me to buy one at that $500.

If it ever drops in price, I'll check it out for sure. However, I can't really see myself dropping five bills on something I already have in my pocket, iphone. I don't make presentations, or spreadsheets, or really word process away from work. Why would I want to do it on a clumsy touch device at home or at the bar?

I also don't read novels and I don't read newspapers away from my work computer.

Although, having a full web browser in my hands would be tight.

    We'll see. Magic it's not.

When is apple going to make ichat with video conferencing on these things? The devices are capable of doing it, i'm not so sure about the network though. But it would be nice.

    That doesn't make any sense.

Agreed, the fact that apple preferred to built their devices with a non detachable battery illustrates their confidence that their products could last, thus arguably reliable.

What I'm just trying to point out is that nothing is perfectly built, that includes Apple's seemingly invulnerable devices. If the nondetachable battery dies so will the device where the battery is attach to. In this case I would prefer a detachable battery where I could extend the lifespan of a device if something ever happens to its battery.;)

I have a detachable battery on my ACER laptop. In 3 years I've had 6 batteries for the POS.

I have a 7 year old iBook. I'm on my 1st battery and still get 4-6 hours.

I see you're point. However, ask yourself this. How many PC's still came with Floppy Disk Drives LONG after NO ONE was using them? Times are a changing.

I couldn't agree more, time is changing and so is the trend in technology. No doubt that Apple products are one of the most reliable in the market. I understand what you're trying to convey and the bottom line boils down to brand name.

This may sound ironic but even though I'm an outspoken iPad critic, at the end of the day I am still an Apple fan. Although I really would like to see iPad released with all the missing features included.

With regards to your Acer Laptop, I still do believe that you wouldn't had enjoyed its service for that long if it wasn't for its replaceable battery.

For your iBook? hey, what could I say, Apple products rocks:cool:!

I've never enjoyed the service of my ACER. It's been cumbersome, troublesome and otherwise a PITA. I've really not used it that much. So the fact that the battery keeps dying is really annoying. I only have it to diagnose stupid windows problems for clients, or make sure that IE plays nice with a web site.

You pay for what you get. It was cheap, and its running Windows. I can't expect much more than I got out of it ;)

I agree that there are always a number of things missing on apple products. But if they always included everything, they'd cost even more than they do now.
