I read it carefully and my reply was intended for those who says their debit card does not work... I was just trying to tell them reason why it does not work... because several people still have visa electron card (I Also have one and can not use that with paypal) Pardon me if I did something wrong
Thats not the case..I have 5 debit cards..i tried all of them , none worked...Then i tried 3-4 more of my parents..again none worked... And several of those cards have Visa and Mastercard logo(not visa electron)... However credit card works like a charm..
Then I might be wrong.. I have friends, debit card work for them but my does not ... only difference is logo :-(
they must be having debit card of standard chartered or some foreign bank who have branches in India also...
No, you can't skip.. Whenever you use your card for online purposes for the First time, you are redirected to the payment gateway of your Bank (which is an Indian Bank). The bank follows the rules of RBI, which makes the VbV/MCSC mandatory for all Indian debit cards. So, u a forced to register for VbV/MCSC whenever you use the card for first time on internet. Well, talking about Paypal.. you are wrong that debit cards with VISA/Mastercard will work.. While verification, Paypal charges $1.95 on the card.. Due to VbV/MCSC coming into play when you use an Indian debit card, this transaction of $1.95 fails, and your debit card is rejected.. So, Indian debit cards don't work for Paypal as of now.. doesn't matter if they are Mastercard/VISA/Maestro P.S. --> Debit cards worked like a charm before 16th Dec 2009. My own PP verified through an Indian Debit card, and same goes for 4 of my friends..
Its a simple thing to understand and still there is more disscussions going on. Debit card works only for withdrawl purpose and it cant be used to verify ur a/c.whether you have visa/master logo or you have 3 digit code at the back it wont work for verifying and its that simple.
sorry bout going off topic, but this guy here https://www.thepaypalblog.com/2010/02/an-open-letter-from-farhad-irani-on-the-situation-in-india/ says that the check would reach us in 5 to 7 days, and that he would refund the $5 withdrawal fee. Can anyone tell me if the checks are sent out in USD or INR, and how long does it take to have that cleared?
