Depending upon the directories guidelines they will approve your site.. there are some directory they are doing instant approval.. just try and you will feel some goodness about your link popularity.

Based on my experienced, its better to go for just a few quality directories in which people manually check your site's quality before adding. Some might charge some small fee, but they do work better then a bunch of free crappy directories, which accept every who submit sites.
